Flirt is not a full blown Anita Blake novel, just a little novella to apparently tide the reader over til the next novel comes out. I wasn't aware that we needed tiding over but hey....

I did like that this novella was focused only on one plot and never veered off into subplots. It is what it is and that's it. Kinda refreshing.

Anita starts off having to turn down some clients because they want to raise their dead spouses for somewhat nefarious reasons. She has morals and she uses them! Naturally surrounded by her many boyfriends, she goes to lunch and explains how she was taught to flirt. There's too much time spent on flirting with a waiter so we move on.

One of the aforementioned clients won't take no for an answer and wants the dead spouse, dammit! Hijinx and sex ensue.

Same Anita but in a smaller dose. Not bad.

meh, meh, meh... Anita, I know your better than this!

Ok if you didn’t know until now… Anita is a BADASS BITCH…

What she does in this book it’s like dropping the mic. She does what she does to protect the ones she loves does it make me sad for Nicky yes but I do understand it now the question is will Jean-Claude? He said he understands but she is collecting more…..

Thank you for the old narrator to be back! :)

I hate short stories and the sound effects were totally not wanted or necessary

It is hard to believe that I have stuck with this series for eighteen books, when I am more of a nonfiction person and not into novels or series books...but here I am. I am committed to this, for better or worse. This just happens to be a phase of the worst, I think. Anita turns down a job raising an exploded corpse. She encounters some boys who want to kill her boy Micah, so she has to do something she does not wish to do to save his life. She uses her magical capabilities to do things to people that are unethical. Jean-Claude has to rush to the rescue. There is, of course, plenty of sex and tedious conversation about every. single. little. thing. Again, an unimpressive addition to the series.

So this book was kind of pointless. Absolutely nothing about it moved the plot forward. I feel like this was meant to be a novella that somehow got mislabeled. This first whole half of this book was the boys teaching Anita how to flirt, because of course she's just horrible at it and doesn't understand how anyone could find her attractive enough to flirt back.

18 books in and Anita is still whining about how she's not white enough or has the worst hair. Seriously, can we put her in therapy because this shit is getting old.

The only thing besides the flirting that happened is Anita added another man to her entourage. This time as a slave. Anita turns down a job and the guy hires assassins to try to force her to do his bidding. It doesn't go his way of course but, yet, we get to keep another man. Yay, another man to try to remember.

But of course, I will be continuing the series because I'm finally getting to the books I haven't read yet.

Flirt is a short little piece on how body language can attract someone to you. Unfortunately Anita Blake not only gets the look from a young waiter, but also from some very bad guys that want her to raise a ghoul. But Anita is not to be outdone by anyone. She promises to be a good little girl if her beaus don__t get hurt, but she never promised not to try her utmost to thwart their plan.
A fast paced story with lots of action and an Anita more ruthless then you ever knew her. No one will hurt her family, no one. Not even the stupid Lion mercenaries__
