With everything that is happening in the world currently, I find it often difficult to remain optimistic about my children’s future.
But I will Persevere. I plan to continue to Educate myself and my children. I will teach them to be Resilient. Together we will be good Stewards of our Earth. For all of those reasons I am Hopeful.
In The Book of Hope, Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams have intimate and thought-provoking conversations about how we can maintain Hope- a survival guide to help us navigate through these trying times. As the world’s most famous living naturalist, Jane Goodall shares through her experiences her reasons for Hope: the awesome human intellect, the resilience of nature, the power of young people, and the indomitable human spirit. As a friend and interviewer, Douglas Abrams not only shares his own personal experiences, but uses his expertise to best articulate the questions that we yearn to know the answer to.
It’s a book to cherish, to pass along to friends and family, to inspire many for generations to come. Easy to read like a conversation amongst friends, I highly recommend you take the opportunity to read The Book of Hope. I enjoyed the personal stories shared and the tour through mementos that inspired Jane Goodall to be the steward of Hope that she is.

This was an interesting perspective on the idea of hope and how it has affected Jane Goodall's life.
A book I did not anticipate to have impacted me as greatly as it did. Jane and Doug did such a wonderous job at articulating a story that gave me, as the book entailed, a true sense of hope. Like she said in her book, it feels far more realistic to be nihilistic than it is to hold onto hope. But like she furthered, there is still time, where we can and we WILL do what we can within our own communities and as a whole, as people residing on this expansive planet. Thank you for giving me a deeply felt sense of awe and comfort as I know that our efforts are not for nothing, but it has to start now.
