This was a really interesting and inspiring read, especially as an audiobook. The books was fashioned as a conversation between Goodall and the author and Goodall read her own portions. The content wasn’t groundbreaking or particularly unique but Jane’s extraordinary life and her perspective give the idea of hope new life. It was a lovely red and a message I, and many, really need to hear. I will seek out the author’s other book, The Book of Joy (with Desmond Tutu and the Dali Lama, also as an audiobook.

As a naturalist, biology major, and massive Jane Goodall fan, I knew this was a book I needed to read.

I’m so glad I did.

This isn’t Jane’s first book about hope, but I absolutely loved the way it was written. Written in interview-like style, it was an easy read. Jane did an amazing job, as always, of connecting her life story and knowledge to her thoughts on staying hopeful during such a terrible time.

The banter, also, between her and the co-author, Douglas Abrams, really helped lighten up the book.

I don’t read a whole lot of non-fiction, but I definitely recommend this to science-lovers, naturalists, environmentalists, or people who are looking for a bit of advice on how to have hope.
