I am really zooming through this series lol. This book was great! I think that if anything, this book made me realize the range that Miranda Keneally has as an author. She has written characters who are religious, not religious, rich, poor, etc as well as exploring topics such as abortion, death, addiction, and so many other things. Sure, these books are a bit cheesy in some peoples opinions, but I think these books have a great balance of serious topics as well as the fun and cute fluff as well. I really just love these books and this one was no different.

I really enjoy seeing so many past characters pop back up and I think this love story was good as well. I loved Jeremiah and I think Annie was a good lead.

I think this book maybe had a little less substance than some of the others in the series but that’s not to say it was bad. Overall, this isn’t my favorite from the series but I enjoyed it a lot!

I can't remember the last time I cried as much as I did while reading this book, it was such an emotional rollercoaster. Loved hearing about Matt and Kate from "things I can't forget" and where they are in their relationship. And I loved the relationship between Annie and Jere, the RBB

I really enjoyed this next installment in Kenneally's Hundred Oaks series. This story bridges Annie's senior year in high school and her freshman year in college. She is still dealing with the loss of her boyfriend to a car-related accident that took his life and in his memory, trains for a marathon that Kyle would have run had he been still alive. Annie's recovery from the death of a serious boyfriend is dealt with well and I loved all the characters in her life. Kenneally lets us see the good and the ugly that surrounds the serious training for the marathon - that it isn't all "just" hard work. Sometimes it's painful and even gross, haha. This view only endeared Annie to me more and I wanted to be on Matt's team, too (Matt, the marathon team trainer). Finally, the love story between Annie and Jeremiah is sweet, and I loved Jeremiah's personality and how he dealt with his relationship with Annie.

Every Miranda Keneally book only gets better. I did not really like Catching JORDAN (one of the few I know) but after I started reading more of her books I completely fell in love. While this couldn't top Racing Savannah I throughly enjoyed Annie's journey!

This book is what I would refer to as your basic young adult romance. If I was 14 I would be eating this book up However, now I see it as a short teen romance without much depth. This book doesn't truly dive through the surface level as to be expected since this book is for new teens but has a nice inspirational message to never give up and if you feel like you're close just breathe.

Annoying

Nearly makes you want to take up marathon running. Except for the pain and the more pain and the other pain.

This book was good. Six months after her boyfriend dies in a car accident, Annie is training to run a marathon in his honor. She's signed up for a group program run by this guy Matt when she meets his younger brother, Jeremiah. It was one of those stories where the love interest is supposedly bad news. Jeremiah is an adrenaline junky, and since Annie is obviously nervous about losing someone else she cares about, so it causes some conflict. I thought they were a cute couple.

I liked Annie, and I loved reading about her training. She is tougher than she realizes, and the reactions her body had to all of the physical exertion were very accurate. They were based on Miranda's own training for a marathon earlier in her life.

There is also a fun mix of girl friends, with some associated drama, and their boys. During the book she's also moving away to college. I liked those parts of the story as well. Annie's mother and brother are present and add to the story's depth.

Overall, this book was fun and entertaining, but I don't think it will stick with me. I enjoyed Miranda's writing, so I may have to check out some of the other Hundred Oaks books.

4.5!
“You need anything? Water? Tylenol? Vaseline?”
“Vaseline?” He shrugs. “Yeah, for chafing. Are you having any issues?”

This was exactly the book I needed to get nurse my book hangover after how much of a wreck ACOMAF and Soldier left me. It was everything I needed; fluffy, good banter, believable characters, and sweet romance. I also think I needed that bit of grief and healing. Unlike with the last book, there wasn’t drama over how it happened, just that it happened and what the aftermath looked like.

The main character of this story is Annie. After her boyfriend (Kyle) of three years, the boy that she planned on marrying someday, dies in an accident, she decides to train for the marathon that he never got to run. She herself had never been a runner so this huge race that is difficult for even the most in-shape runner, seemed almost impossible. Luckily, Annie had the good sense to get a trainer, Matt, to help her on her journey **Side note, I know that he was in a previous Hundred Oaks book, but this is the first book by Miranda Kenneally that I have read.** Pretty soon off the bat we also meet Matt’s brother, Jeremiah, who is working for Matt. On a run towards the beginning of Annie’s training, when she is still struggling with the longer distances, this crazy kid with crazy hair whips by her, running backwards. Annie silently names him Running Backwards Boy and thinks he must be crazy. The two form a relationship that begins as a tenuous thing and turns into much, much more. They have crazy chemistry right from the start, and you can’t help but cheer for the crazy, sweet, adrenaline junky of a boy.

A quarter mile more. One foot after the other. Breathe, Annie, breathe.

This is the second book revolving around a main character who has experienced the loss of a loved one that I have read in the past week. While the other one was all drama, this one was all about Annie’s journey. There were times where she would start thinking whatifwhatifwhatif, but what happened to Kyle was purely an accident. There was nothing she could have done. I thought that her grief and healing were handled very well. She dated this guy for three years. Three years. When you are with someone for that long (which I have been) they become your whole life. You are each other’s best friends and you can practically know what the other person is thinking just by looking at them. I cannot for the life of me comprehend how deeply I would be affected if my own boyfriend (also named Kyle) died in an accident. It would kill the most important me. But anyway, I digress as that is a very depressing train of thought. I thought it was a beautiful thing that Annie wanted to do this one huge thing for Kyle. It was something that would require so much strength and will and determination. What an amazing thing to do in someone’s memory.

Anything can happen. Anything. Anytime, to anyone. We have to live now. Now, now, now.

I thought the romance in this book was of the sweetest sorts. Jeremiah, ohhhh that boy is a wonder. He is not without his faults of course. Being an adrenaline junkie, he has put strain on the relation he has with his family, and eventually (for a time) with Annie because of how worried they were about him continuously hurting himself. Annie especially had problems with it because obviously she had already gone through losing one love and for a while didn’t even want to get that close to Jeremiah because of it. He won her over in the end though and I was so happy. He was so supportive. His attention and affection never wavered for one second. He freaking promised to wait for her for as long as she needed. HOW MANY OTHER GUYS HAVE DONE THAT, WOULD DO THAT?! Probably not many.

It just overall good book. For those of you who have read other reviews of mine, you probably know by now that my favorite books are the kinds that have you feeling something. This one had me grieving with Annie, healing with Annie, and falling in love with Jeremiah, just like Annie. Actually, if I’m going to be honest this book got me excited enough about running that I went and bought myself a nice pair of Asics and plan on signing up for a color run because, who wouldn’t want to do that?! Overall, this is just a super sweet read. I definitely plan on checking out some of Kenneally’s other books in this series.

I’ll never forget you

The fifth book in the Hundred Oaks series, and another great book to throw into what has been a really good series of books to read, even if I did read them all out of order.

This book was a story of Annie working through her grief over the death of her boyfriend by running a marathon in his honour. This brings in Matt, who was in book 3 of the series as her running coach, and his brother Jeremiah, as the love interest.

I really loved Jer’s hang up, I thought that was quite unique and interesting, and it was a nicely developed story of these two falling in love and overcoming their flaws to be together. A nice read.
