Such a beautiful story. Whether you are trans or not this is something you should listen to. The meanings go deep to the fundamentals of being a person and it’s such an insightful portrayal into the hearts of trans women. The author is one of the narrators and all the other narrators are also trans. The narration is perfection and each narrator is the character to me. I want to read so much more from this author. I hope she has more stories to share in the future.

God I loved this book. I don’t reread much, but I can see myself coming back to these beautiful, fucked up little people.

I really like this book - because of how it represents the transgender community but also is very frank about their existence, especially in a small town.

Amazing book but one of the more frustrating flaws were the colllege essay written about another person. That’s not how college essays work and it being a main tension in the book completely pulled me away. Otherwise I’m in love with the characters and felt so connected to them all.

Once again, I would never have picked this up without #CampLitsy. The “friendship” between Erica and Abigail was deeply disturbing to me, and I came so close to bailing. It still gives me the ick. However, watching all of the characters evolve on their respective journeys was incredible. St. James writes beautifully, with depth and compassion. This feels like a big, important book that everyone should read. The world needs more kindness, compassion, acceptance, empathy, authenticity, and love.
