Amazing book but one of the more frustrating flaws were the colllege essay written about another person. That’s not how college essays work and it being a main tension in the book completely pulled me away. Otherwise I’m in love with the characters and felt so connected to them all.

Once again, I would never have picked this up without #CampLitsy. The “friendship” between Erica and Abigail was deeply disturbing to me, and I came so close to bailing. It still gives me the ick. However, watching all of the characters evolve on their respective journeys was incredible. St. James writes beautifully, with depth and compassion. This feels like a big, important book that everyone should read. The world needs more kindness, compassion, acceptance, empathy, authenticity, and love.

Charming, infuriating, hysterical. Deeply inspiring whether you’re trans or cis to live an authentic life. I couldn’t put it down. My new number one recommendation.

i liked it, the characters were semi well-rounded and their dynamics were interesting. i couldn't really get over the student-teacher friendship though, it felt strange and pretty much every time they hung out one of them was saying they couldn't hang out anymore and it could get tiring. but i thought it was smart how
erica's POV went from third to first person as she started to feel more like herself in her body, i had been wondering why abigail's was in first person and ericas wasn't
. i will also say though that because of the way abigail's chapters were written and because of some tropes with characters this felt more like a YA novel than an adult one.
