Ahhhh!!! This has to be one of the sweetest m/m romance novels!!!
Best friend to lovers!! What more could you ask for!

Beautiful

I love an amazing MM romance. I was begging for this book not knowing it existed and it blew me away. I loved the banter between Kelly and Blue. Their love story was real and amazing so beautiful.

I was shocked on how sweet Blue really was. Going into this book I thought for sure Blue was going to be the grump but it was actually the opposite and that was something I really enjoyed.

Kelly’s comebacks were amazing

Colocar a nota pelos dois livros: é uma história bonita e realística. Gosto do desenvolvimento de amigos para amantes e de como eles racionalizaram o que aconteceu. Adoro livros assim. Nada de muito novo, mas bonito e divertido. Gostei.

I really adored this love story.
“You make my life better I wanna keep you forever.”
Kelly (a college professor with zero athleticism) and Blue (a professional American football player) have been friends since they were kids. Kelly has had more-than-friends feelings for Blue and has since his twelfth birthday, but he keeps those feelings locked down.

I love Kelly’s family!! When he comes out to them, it’s no big deal (because they’ve known for years)
“I need a story, Ma. This is not a good coming-out story.” I raised an eyebrow. “They’re going to take my gay card for this. I hope you’re happy.”
The banter throughout was on point, and hilarious.

Yes, it annoyed me that Blue took soooooo long to figure out what he wanted, but overall this story just made me happy.
Something amazing happens in your world when the person you think is crazy special thinks you’re kind of special too.
I thought the story ended quite abruptly, until I realized there was a second book with the same characters, yay!

I was in a horrible book slump, and sometimes cheesy MM can pull me out of a bad slump. I got way more out of this story than I could’ve expected. This was a sports MM romance. Kelly and Blue are best friends, Kelly is gay and Blue is straight. Kelly has always loved Blue.

Story 3 C
Narration by Alexander Cendese and Sean Crisden 4.5 A-
Rounding up to 4 due to narration.

The narration saved this book for me. I might have dnf'd it otherwise. Why? Because while the two main characters were meant to be nice guys just trying to figure out their feelings, they are instead a mess of unhealthy interactions.

Kelly has been in love with his straight best friend, Blue, for years, and he's finally realized he needs to move on with his life. He can't tell Blue how he feels, so he starts to distance himself from the guy he's spent most of his time with since they were very young. Blue doesn't understand it and does want that to happen, so he keep dogging Kelly's heels and basically not leaving him alone. Blue also starts to notice how good looking Kelly is, and getting jealous of any other guy that notices him. Fueled by drink, they cross the line one night. Blue immediately backtracks and reiterates that he's "not gay" and they're just friends. Blue is a very successful professional football player and under a lot of pressure to keep his already injured body going. He doesn't need to add questionable sexual orientation to his hassles. So far not bad. I can work with this, but...

Kelly keeps trying to set boundaries, and Blue keeps blasting through them. Then he basically gaslights the shit out of Kelly saying the encounters were at most just friends with benefits. He says Kelly is a "free agent," but whenever Kelly has the hint of a date, Blue shows up to cock-block him. Maybe this is supposed to be funny, but Blue has serious dog-in-the-manger issues. I found both characters frustrating: Kelly in his inability to lay it on the line with Blue and tell him to stop and Blue for being a gaslighting a-hole, who turns everything around and says Kelly is the one being "overly dramatic."
SpoilerThe scenes where Kelly finally tells Blue how he feels is painful. Blue keeps saying "yeah, I love you too," and denying that Kelly means something different with his "I love you's." It's honestly a textbook case of gaslighting.

Of course this is a "bi-awakening" story (not a spoiler) and Blue is "confused" so I guess we're suppose to have sympathy? I have sympathy, but not for unhealthy forms of (non)communication. I'm absolutely not convinced they are ever going to be truly honest with each other and don't buy the HEA.

The narrators for this are two of my favorite and they are an absolute pleasure to listen to. Go find them on their other work. For Crisden try Adriana Herrera's Dreamer series (superb story and narration), and for Cendese check out his work on Eden Finley's Fake Boyfriend series among many other titles.

Loved it!!!!! Can’t wait to read their next chapter 😍
