Loved every bit of this. I love that it was told through many perspectives, broken up to be chronological. It kept the entire story feeling new. My favorites were Penelope's letters. This was just a fantastic novel from beginning to end.

If there were more than 5 stars available, I’d give them all to this book. If you like Madeline Miller, Homer, or any of the ancient playwrights, you will love this. There’s humor, tragedy, and a new point of view without dismissing all that came before. I adored every minute of this book.

I  loved the story of Troy, then I read this book, now I love it even more.

I see what she’s trying to do here, but it all felt very ham fisted to me. The Penelope chapters killed me. Circe is a similar framework, but far better executed.

A good story, one I enjoyed at times, but it is a narration of the Greek-Trojan war from the perspective of the women vs. a reimagining of their story in the way that Madeline Miller makes us see characters anew. Although it attempts to give the women involved a fuller story/voice in the epic and is touted as a feminist retelling, the women's stories still center largely around the actions of and loss of men. The women in these stories often have a horrific and unsatisfactory fate, and there isn't much that Haynes writes that changes this. It's still a story of men.
