While I enjoyed the first book in this series (Bait&Switch) I found myself liking this one even more! OMG, Greyson Archer- you my friend are a KEEPER!!! This is a really great book with a lead alpha male that will make you swoon. Not only is he strong and sexy (I mean look at that COVER) but he is also extremely protective and kind. I loved the relationship and the way it developed between Greyson and Finley. Their relationship, while a slow burn, heated up at the exact right moment! It didn’t happen overnight and the two didn’t fall in love from the get go. Rather, they had to overcome some obstacles (which are really sad btw) before coming together. I loved how sweet and charming Greyson is. He takes on quite a big role after reentering Finley’s life and this totally melted my heart. There is nothing like a guy who is good with kids in these romance novel, gah, so sweet! Finley is also a great character. While at first I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about her I really grew to love and understand her as I read. This is a woman with baggage. Baggage that is so heartbreaking that it will make readers emotional. She puts up a strong front but like anyone, she craves loves and protection. In all honesty, I grew to love these characters so much that I didn’t want the story to end. Usually with standalone novels I don’t develop an intense connection with the characters because we don’t get to see them grow throughout a whole series. So to say that I will miss them is an understatement. BUT, I do look forward to the next book which will feature a new couple… I am SUPER excited!

Grayson was in Marcus's squadron and was there when he died. Finley is working as a stripper to make ends meet and Grayson happens to be there when he is shocked to see her. He doesn't want her working as a stripper and wants to help her out. Finley is mad at him for not saving Marcus. They begin a slow burn friendship though that leads to romance, despite both of their guilt. The story was interesting and had a lot of potential, but I couldn't really feel a connection to the characters. They didn't have a lot of depth to me. It wasn't bad, but it was short (less than 200 pages) and I felt that might have led to the feeling that it lacked depth. I will continue to read Ms. Ryan's work though.

These Two…
These two drove me crazy. My heart hurt for both of them. Finely for losing her husband at such a young and trying to find a way to take care of herself and her little girl. For Greyson because of the guilt he carried around for Finley’s husband’s death. He was the commanding officer in charge when her husband died. These two had a lot to work through before they could open themselves enough to be together. It was their mutual stubbornness that drove me crazy but had me wanting more.
This book had just enough angst to keep you intrigued but not enough to drive you crazy. It was the perfect read. A great mix of military romance, enemies to lovers and alpha love. Both characters showing strength and vulnerability. Great read.

Cute, easy read but not my favorite of Ms. Ryan's. The story development was lacking in some areas (How did Brant manage to get an unconscious Finley in her apartment and grab Maple if there was a babysitter? I'm sure the baby wasn't home by herself and the sitter would have noticed something.) but I do appreciate her smooth writing style. I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
This was just an okay book for me. I liked the characters, I liked the writing, and the plot was okay. There was nothing I hated but nothing I loved. After Bait & Switch, it fell felt for me. Hopefully, it will get better with West's story.
