I'm scared. Like legit no kidding. Never expected this behaviour from Cat. The story itself is kind of familiar, social media person, obsessive follower, and stalker. Though I REALLY recommend reading it has so many different details that make it worth reading. I can't believe someone would actually think of murdering their best friend. LIKE WTH! Really recommend! Actually, this just reminded me of the book In My Dreams I Hold a Knife

I really enjoyed reading this book. There were short chapters which kept you invested in the story in every chapter and made it easy to breeze through the book. This story kept you guessing and intrigued throughout the story.

Complex, curious, tragic.

We are following three POVs: an extroverted influencer who doesn't want to succumb to #ad, a socially anxious bullied adult who became besties-ish with the influencer in University, and a mysterious stalker with good intentions turned super creepy
🇺🇸 Set in Washington D.C., USA

Growls, Howls, and Tail Wags 🐺🐕:
👌Realistic! I equally felt for and was annoyed with, even frightened, by every character in this novel. It was realistic in that there was a vagueness to each of them. Incel vibes or hopeless romantic? Covert narcissist or lonely extrovert? Socially anxious bullied friend or co-dependant sociopath?

👌 The kind of writing where you forget you're reading a book beacuse it feels like a movie.

👌Predictable to some but still interesting - I was on the fence so it didn't feel too predictable. I think the story has enough substance and depth that if you really know who the stalker is it isn't a deal-breaker unless you REALLY want unpredictable twists.

Mood Reading Match Up:
  • Contemporary fiction about complexities of new adult/early 30s friendships and relationships
  • Stalker and obsession tropes
  • Dynamic mix of relatable and unlikeable characters delivering  cringe for all
  • Influencer life drama
  • Romantic suspense

Content Heads-Up: Stalking. Love-at-first-sight obsession. Sexual harassment. Trauma from being bullied. Social anxiety vibes.

Format: Paperback

Nice twist but so many loose ends and so stupid fucking ending. Cat goes to jail but Max doesn't? And Audrey, you are no saint. You were a narcissist who took advantage of Cat and somehow everything worked out for you & you still don't learn. Author had built this up so much for this kind of ending? Seriously? Is this supposed to make us be horrified of social media? Meh! It might have been if there was actually good execution.

The pacing was excellent. Had you guessing until the very end. But the ending felt very rushed.

I already knew how it was going to end halfway through and it seemed to drag on and on

Summary: Audrey Miller has over a million followers on various social media accounts. She photographs and posts her every action — her choice of clothing, her furnishings, her job, her meals, her activities. Being a social media influencer is hard work. She has to post very frequently in order to maintain her following.

Despite the lack of a post-graduate degree, Audrey’s social media experience lands her a job with the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. She is also reunited with some old friends, including a sorority friend from college, Cat, and a former boyfriend, Nick.

Audrey rents an apartment sight unseen. When she arrives, she finds several things wrong with it, but she’s determined to make it work. Besides being in the basement, the landlady’s grandson is a creepy drug addict who likes to break into her place and harass her.

Meanwhile, in separate chapters labeled HIM, we meet Audrey’s stalker. He follows her every move on social media and starts following her in real life. He spins tales in his head that she will fall in love with him. He ratchets up his desperate acts. Audrey begins to notice disturbing and frightening things — like someone peeping through her window and leaving orange roses at her door.

She’s not safe at work either. One of her annoying coworkers keeps trying to impress her by wearing her favorite color, orange, and some weird guy keeps sneaking into the off-limits, under construction, exhibit that Audrey is promoting.

As Audrey’s life gets increasingly strange and stressful, she spins further and further out of control. She barely keeps up with her job and personal social media accounts. She is on the verge of a meltdown when suddenly life gets better. But then…it isn’t.

Comments: Follow Me kept me guessing until nearly the very end. It was a real nail-biting, page turner! Everyone Audrey knows is a suspect at some point. The creepy HIM chapters keep the reader in the loop even though Audrey is clueless most of the time.

I personally enjoyed the setting, Washington D.C., as I was born there and spent a lot of time in that city throughout most of my life.

If you like psychological suspense, put Follow Me at the top of your reading list! And keep the lights on.

Very highly recommended for readers of Psychological Suspense.

My Rating 5 AWESOME STARS

Disappointed.

That's how I feel.
I've seen so many good reviews for this book, and I was excited to dive in, but this fell flat.

The characters got on my nerves, and the author put more time explaining what the furniture looked like than painting background stories. The high point of the book was glossed over in less than an hour, and there wasn't much buildup before that.

This is more like a chick lit book than anything close to a thriller.

I had briefly guessed the correct person then dismissed it. Got me!
