It’s a cute best friend-to-lover book where 2 best friends of 12 years, Poppy and Alex, take summer 10 summer trips. They fell out after their last summer trip 2 years ago, but they took one last summer trip together to fix their friendship.
The book is formatted so you read one chapter of the current trip, then in the next chapter, you read about one of the trips they took years ago. This format explains how their friendship progressed over the years and what happened in Croatia, their last trip.
I did have a problem with pacing, to be honest. It starts off really slow, I didn’t find the book interesting until halfway when things get more complicated. The middle is really messy with a year's worth of information that’s told in 1 chapter, then there’s an unnecessarily long sex scene I’m still confused on how it happened. The ending is not as satisfying as it should be, mostly because it could’ve been a little longer.
In general, it’s a cute (?) summer romance book with these cool time skips between summer trips they took. But I honestly wouldn't recommend it.

Super cute as all Emily Henry books are! I think the pacing toward the end was a little rushed which is why it lost some stars for me. Otherwise I really enjoyed it!

This book is extraordinary. So offen when reading romance books I say in my review that they are "good but nothing special." That usually means most people will find some way to enjoy it in my opinion.

With this book however I don't think it's for everyone. It definitely is NOT a cute quick romance book.
This felt more like a contemporary book about two people who happen to be in love with each other.

That being said I absolutely love this book. I enjoyed every minute of the audiobook and I definitely want to reread it and buy a physical copy!

This book makes me wonder why I ever thought enemies-to-lovers is the best type of romance. I still love it but mostly in fantasy settings.
Bestfriends-to-lovers however - wow! I absolutely loved Poppy and Alex's dynamic. The way they could truly be themselves around each other and how they adored each other is just something so special.

What I also loved about this book is how real and human it felt. There are still a few romancy tropes but all in all the stories and the feelings are something I could relate to so much.

I feel like this just made it's way into my favourite books of all times list.

good book very enjoyable. was fun to see their friendship (even though they were very much flirting with eachother).

ending pissed me off
she pours her whole fucking heart to him, he says they cant. she like ok clearly hurt runs out crying. HE COMES BACK TO HER. says hes sorry and they could give it another try. like no skip the whole he says they cant but he realizes hes wrong and runs to her. he can voice how he has worries for the relationship but will try again. not this heart breaking bullshit that was stupid.

author said she got inspo for book from the movie when harry met sally, good movie was a fun watch definitely see the inspirations she got. (that dinner scene was so funny that was the best.)

fav quotes:
-“I want to tell him i feel terrible if i leave. I want to say, All I wanted was for this trip was to be anywhere with you all day or who cares about seeing palm springs when it’s one hundred degrees out or i love you so much it sometimes hurts. Instead I said, “Okay.”
- “he presses a kiss to the top of my head, and it feels like someone cracked an egg there, something warm and sultry dripping down over me.”
- “every ounce of dignity obliterated by having had this man change your drenched bedding.”  - when she was sick (favourite chapter)

taylor swift songs that embody this book
- cruel summer
- the very first night
- i wish you would
