After a slow start, I really adored this. I think that’s almost entirely due to the male love interest who is utterly swoonworthy. It’s worth reading just for him.

this is an upgrade from beach read. i’m still not fond of emily henry’s writing style but i’ve gotten the hang of it; she likes to add unnecessary and oddly specific details to a sentence that makes my head hurt sometimes.
i loved this book, nonetheless. i’m quite content with the simplicity of the plot and the layers of the characters, it’s a good combination.
the ending was good and emotional and i’m glad that i did not hurry reading this. this book felt like one of those rare ones where you should cherish every words and let them sink into your head.
the reason why i’m rating four stars is because i felt like the croatia scene was inadequate. i expected that there’s more to it when they haven’t spoken for 2 years but it happened fast and… just because of a little kiss. i felt like it could have been resolved in under two weeks but emily henry delayed it for the angst factor and to create a build up to anticipate. it turned out to be mildly disappointing.

A lovely summer read with well fleshed out characters who are lovable, have interesting backstories, contrasting personalities and great chemistry. I also enjoyed the back-and-forth between different time periods in chapters, which made me want to keep reading and find out what happens. My favorite part was how funny the book actually was, and how it made me laugh out loud several times.

If this book has reminded me of anything, it's how much I love the friends-to-lovers trope. I mean, a tension filled enemies-to-lovers novel is great, but I just love the chemistry that comes from two really good friends slowly realizing how much they care and love each other. And I have to say that Emily Henry did an amazing job with it in this novel.
Of course, what I loved the most was Alex and Poppy's relationship. I loved them separately as much as I loved them together, and their friendship was so fun to experience. They were fun and relatable and I enjoyed seeing how their opposite personalities complimented each other. And yes, even though they were very different from each other in a lot of ways, I thought they had great chemistry together as a couple.
At first, the dual timeline confused me. Getting thrown out of the main timeline every few chapters took me a second to get used to, but once I did I found myself really enjoying getting to see how their relationship developed over such a long period of time. It had me on the edge of my seat, to the point where all I could think about was finding out about "What happened in Croatia."
The last 20% of the book was really touching as well, as we got to see what Poppy had learned at the end of her journey and how everything unfolded at the end. In the author's note, Henry mentioned how this book was about home. Finding home, coming home. And I don't think there's a better way to explain People We Meet on Vacation. It's a funny, touching, and heartfelt read that I will definitely be recommending and rereading time and time again.

I really liked this book! How Poppy and Alex individually change as they go on their vacations over the years, them being polar opposites but liking they're polar opposites, and the whole aspect of them seeing the other as their 'home' is the type of love you don't see in movies and TV often.
Overall this story is definitely worth the read, and all of the threads are tied in the end :)
