Christopher Moore is definitely insane. This is the first book I've read by him, and I found myself thinking "you can't write that!!!" I LOVED the book, very funny, outrageous, and even heartwarming. A great holiday read, especially if you have any dread of the Christmas season.

this was my second read of this book; it’s ridiculous and fun in the way that most Christopher Moore books are. Great for not taking the holiday too seriously.

The Stupidest Angel attempts to blend holiday cheer with dark comedy, but the result is an uneven and overly bizarre tale. The story follows Raziel, a well-meaning but inept angel, whose botched attempt at a Christmas miracle wreaks havoc on the small town of Pine Cove. Zombies, accidental murder, and eccentric characters dominate the narrative, creating a chaotic and often absurd ride.
While Moore’s humor and quirky style shine at times, the plot feels disjointed, and the over-the-top antics detract from the story’s emotional core. Though it wraps up with a fittingly heartwarming ending, the journey to get there is more strange than satisfying.
For readers who enjoy irreverent, offbeat humor, this book might entertain, but it wasn’t my favorite holiday read.
Note: this should have been a 5 ⭐️read for me as I enjoy quirky book with eccentric characters

This is perhaps the worst book I have ever read...and I've read a lot of books. It was bad enough when the wife accidentally killed her ex-husband-dressed-as-Santa with a shovel, but when a man on a booty call stops to help the murderess bury him for no reason other than sex (which she grants him) and then all the dead people in town turn into zombies, I had to turn to the front cover to see which publisher I should send MY terrible manuscripts to--apparently, they'll publish just about anything. Wow. Bad. Really bad.
Freaking hilarious. Such a fun and zany Christmas book. And a very easy read which honestly is what I want most out of my Christmas reading. So, overall, pretty perfect. I laughed a lot and even when I wasn't laughing I carried a feeling of being pleasantly amused, basically from start to finish. The characters are excellent (some of them have been in his other novels - more on that later) each flawed and unique in their own special ways. The content is just adult enough to keep it interesting without feeling like you've left the realm of a Holiday book entirely. And it's such a ridiculous story but so great and so well done - it's good fun from beginning to end, I really loved it. In fact, I loved it so much, I think I need to re-visit Christopher Moore entirely. I've read a couple of his books but I've found them hard to stay into at times - mostly b/c his style is so goofy. It's a bit jarring when you mainly read "typical" novels. Now that I've found a book of his that I really liked, I feel like I might have a new appreciation for his work and his style of writing. AND knowing that some of these terrific characters have appeared in other places makes it all more appealing for me. That's something very much worth revisiting to me. So, time to get CM back into my regular rotation. I could see myself gifting this book next Christmas for sure (I'm already done shopping this year b/c I'm on overachiever). I was surprised to learn this book is nearly 20 years old. I don't think I know anyone who has read it. A hidden gem!
