I actually really enjoyed this book and am a bit sad to see that others don’t feel the same. It’s not a typical fantasy fae romance, instead it’s a book that tackles grief, feeling deeply ostracized, and manipulative relationships.
I loved how it seamlessly weaved in her daily life and interactions with her neighbors in a way that was realistic which I often find other books don’t tend to do as well or their non fantasy counterparts are just irrelevant to the story.
The only reason I can’t give it five stars is because I wish the ending was a bit more fleshed out and we had more time to see the dreamer change his perspective rather than a momentary switch. I also think it would’ve been nice if the end included how the dreamer got out of the situation just a bit more, did he get rid of the queen? Did he give her souls? Idk
Overall I enjoyed it and loved her interpretation of grief in the story and how it affected everything abt the character.

I enjoyed this book a lot, I love how headstrong Moira Jean is and her slow spiral into depression is very believable.
I love how the author was able to fool me as well, getting more and more invested in the relationship between her and The Dreamer as she opens up to him more, only to realize every part of it was manipulation. I also enjoy that it leaves room to show that even if he did care, his actions were still wrong. It’s a very well-done piece on how easily someone can spin their web around you and how quickly you can fall victim to it without a proper support system around you.

Slow start but became intriguing. Just not a big romance guy I guess.

This book took me out of a reading slump.

There were, of course, things in the book that I wish were slightly different. Some aspects I wish would have been explored a little bit more and so on, but overall, it was a wonderful book, and I really enjoyed it!
If you're thinking of listening to the audiobook, I highly recommend you do! Eilidh Beaton does a fantastic job at voicing JJA Harwood's beautiful writing!
