Another great story, if you like mysteries and want a setting outside of the US definately pick up this series already. Looking foward to finding the time to read the next one.

I accidentally jumped ahead with this novel but I highly enjoyed it and plan to read the rest of the series. In fact, I am not doing my "assigned reading" and instead grabbing up these to read:)

Once again, I loved a Donna Leon book. They are becoming my go-to read when I want something I know I will enjoy. I enjoy the clever references in the titles as well-- this one has several different meanings in the text.

The only thing I didn't like was that Brunetti took so long to arrive on the scene -- several chapters.

One star is even too much. Literally the worst book i’ve ever read. Writing is boring and horrible. The ending super frustrating. Never touching a Donna Leon book again.

Doctored Evidence is #13 in Donna Leon's long running series set in Venice, Italy. I am happily working my way through the volumes in audiobook form. I enjoy getting to know the culture and city of Venice as much as Commissario Brunetti and his family. In this book he is working to solve the murder of a woman in her 80's who was disliked by her neighbors.

This book playes nicely with the readers feelings towards the characters. A murder victim, that was a not very nice person and nobody liked. Her son, who died from AIDS and looked that his mother had enough money. An attorney, that loves her dog. A niece, that is not portraid nicely and like she was not that intelligent.
All that while Paola reads Chiaras catechism school book and they discuss the seven deadly sins. This is woven in nicely into the plot.
I also enjoyed the plot where ternente Scarpa tries to get on Brunettis nerves.

Las weer heerlijk weg maar wel geërgerd aan de homofobische zijplot.

A nice read. As usual, somewhat light on the mystery/plot, but great atmosphere and character exploration. And descriptions of sumptuous Italian cooking!
