Finished my re-read of the series and I definitely remember why I enjoyed it so much as a teenager. The character relationships were messier than I remember but this book had some great plot points and intrigue. Loved some of the reveals that happened at the end and it was fun that I only remembered them as they were about to happen. Overall I think the end could have been wrapped up better but I’m keen to re-read/finish reading the spin-off series soon to see if some of those things get worked out. Also justice for Adrian the poor love

When i began reading this series, i wasn't too impressed. The first two books just lacked a certain magic - that power that draws you in and wants to love its characters. However, I think this book deserves it. No it doesn't shake the universe, or alter the way people think, and it probably won't be held up as a classic in years to come. But with all that said, this is a GOOD book. It's fast-paced, well-written, and full of unexpected surprises. It had good resolutions to some problems and leaves some issues open-ended. The characters are in no way perfect, but they hold their own and are developed well. This is the vampire series that should have earned all the accolades that a certain other series did. Well done Ms Mead.

Amazing series by an amazing writer. Love how it captures your attention and transports you to the scenes with great details. No series by this author has disappointed me to this day. They are great reads and rereads.

2022 edit:
Re-reading this series in honor of the new tv series. The tv series is a lot better than the movie (movie was horrible in my personal opinion) and me re-reading the books allows me fresh new eyes when I do comparisons of what one doesn’t have and what I like best between the books vs tv.

To be honest, this author through the years has had the most amazing books I’ve ever read. Great characters and their respective developments, doesn’t add random people to the story just to add them (everyone is important and has great purpose), the relationships (friends, couples, families, enemies and even frenemies). She captures your attention and makes you not want to stop.

I still remember when I first read these I just couldn’t put them down. This time it was the same only life has added more responsibility that doesn’t let me read none stop with only naps, meals and bathroom breaks.

I truly recommend everyone read any of her series, you will not regret it.

I loved this series so much and the ending actually did shock me

“What was love, really? Flowers, chocolate, and poetry? Or was it something else? Was it being able to finish someone's jokes? Was it having absolute faith that someone was there at your back? Was it knowing someone so well that they instantly understood why you did the things you did—and shared those same beliefs?"

It was a bad ending, waiting for more.

Lepší zakončení série snad ani nemohlo být. Richelle Mead prostě umí psát a tahle kniha byla stejně jako předchozí díly naprostá bomba.
