overall a pretty solid conclusion -- i enjoyed it! it could have used more christian (as always), and i'm lowkey pretty upset about how adrian was treated (he deserved sm better), but overall an interesting read!
i'm also kinda wondering if the keepers group will end up coming back in the bloodlines series because there was a decent amount of set-up/background with them for them to only be present for a few chapters?

Series: sixth and final in the Vampire Academy series
As always, possible spoilers, so beware.
First Line: I don’t like cages.
I have said it before and I will say it again. The Vampire Academy series is my all-time favorite. Not my all-time favorite vampire series, or my all-time favorite YA series, but my ALL-TIME FAVORITE SERIES. EVER. Richelle Mead creates a world with characters so lovable, so believable; you sometimes forget they are even vampires. The sixth and final installment had me feeling so many emotions. I was angry, happy, sad, joyful, remorseful, and all the feelings that come with reading the last book in a series you adore.
I’ll start off with a basic synopsis of what happens, and then I will move to how I liked/dislike those things. The book is way too long to give a play by play, and I don’t want to ruin it for others so I will try to keep it simple.
Rose Hathaway was arrested at the end of Spirit Bound, VA number 5, for killing Queen Tatiana. We, obviously, know that Rose is innocent, but we also know that there is a lot of evidence pointing at her. So, LS starts off with Rose locked up. She’s freaking out, which is a likely reaction to someone who will most likely be convicted of a crime she didn’t commit. Abe comes to visit and brings some bad news: the trial is being moved up – it’s now only two weeks away. Not knowing it was possible, Rose freaks out even more, as I would. Abe is dismissive though and acts like things will just work out, which leaves Rose confused. She passes the time by slipping into Lissa’s mind. Rose gets suspicious when Lissa blocks her out. We are left wondering what she’s up do.
The next day is Queen Tatiana’s funeral and with a little help from Lissa, Abe, Eddie, Adrian, Christian, Sidney, and Dimitri, Rose is broken out of prison. The plan is for Sidney and Dimitri to take Rose to some small town in West Virginia to wait until Lissa, Adrian, and Christian can find Tatiana’s real killer. Rose, being the stubborn girl that she is, refuses to just sit there and tries to run away. She tries to run away after tricking Dimitri and kissing him. You can definitely feel the tension between them two, and it’s just sooo agonizing! I want them to kiss and make up already!
Rose convinces Dimitri that there is something they can do – they can find the other Dragomir, Lissa’s long lost sibling. A bank account leads them to Sonya Karp, Rose’s old teacher who was also a spirit user and eventually turned Strigoi. During a dream, Rose convinces Adrian to nominate Lissa for the Queen. Lissa gets nominated and has to go through three tests to see if she is worthy. So Rose is trying to find Lissa’s sibling and Lissa is trying to stall people by running for queen.
Rose struggles with her feelings for Dimitri throughout the book and you can’t help but feel for her. When Dimitri was turned Strigoi she had to find a way to get over him and that didn’t work out to well. Then, by some miracle, he gets turned back into a dhampir, and he rejects her. Rose tries to move on with Adrian, and I think that's why I love her, even if things didn’t turn out so great for Adrian. She actually gave their relationship one hundred percent. She actually did try to make it work.
I don’t want to give too much more away, but the book goes very fast with plenty of action in Rose’s world and in Lissa’s. I found myself reading all through the night because I wanted more, more, more. There were so many twists that left me surprised. I love the way the book ended. I think for the most part Rose and Lissa got their “happy” ending. There were a few loose ends, but I assume those will be answered in the upcoming spinoff, Bloodlines.
Buy? Rent? Borrow?
Definitely buy! This is an incredible series, one that you should definitely own. It’s worth it to own them all.
Cover Appeal
I love this cover. It’s very simple, just a girl, but she looks so full of emotion. I’m glad there isn’t a guy on the cover. It would have people arguing over whether it’s Dimitri or Adrian.

I was going to give it three stars, but decided on four, since there is a spin off series. I just thought it ended with too much left open. However, I know she did that so she could write Bloodlines..... I guess I'll forgive it.
