The final volume of the Vampire Academy series brings the story to a fitting conclusion. There are several interesting plot twists and you get to know a new group of characters. Personally, I don't like the ‘love triangle’ trope at all, and it's quite prominent in this volume. Overall, it's a nice final to an adventurous YA series.

While I loved the series and I loved this ending, I feel like I need to point out several flaws:

1. Open ending. What the hell happens with the rest of the characters? Ending the book with a cheesy line is a very lazy way of ending the book. I do not like having to read yet another series to get basic information about characters of this series. But who am I kidding? I was going to read Bloodlines anyway.

2. The cheesy writing. Come on! I've written fanfiction with the same exact lines that sometimes appeared here. Readers should not know exactly what you are going to say! While I was reading I could not help but think, "oh, God, this writing is so 2008". Don't ask me why that year came to mind. I don't know. I think Twilight might have something to do with it.

3. Predictable plot lines. It was obvious from the beginning of book one that
Spoiler Lissa was going to end up being queen. We've all used that device in our writing. Fanfiction writing for the win.
. Again, your series should no be so predictable.

4. Tropes galore. Redemptive love. Check. Badass heroine with attitude problems but that everyone seems to love for unknown reasons. Check. Love triangle. Check. Womanizer, moron Moroi turned cute broken-hearted puppy. Check. Lost princess. Check. And the list goes on and on.

5. Rose. Rose. Rose. Rose. I know that Rose is the protagonist of the saga, but she is not the center of the whole universe. Her egotistical attitude gets boring after six books. Yes, you're cool, you're tough, you're strong. But you are not perfect and you are not invincible. Drop that attitude.

But hey, despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I'm just in a cranky mood. xD

I loved the conclusions to this book, every doubtful character became likeable, and despite it being fantasy it all felt quite realistic. Whilst I don’t know how I feel about Tasha being the murder I supposed that is the point of a twist to be so completely unrealistic and yet to have no faults in reasoning. Now whilst I love dimitri and rose- the age thing is a bit worrying, but I suppose as rose grew up quickly she was mature enough to make that decision I just really can’t comprehend why authors love that trope. I felt so bad for Adrian I really do love him but this book did make me realise that he wasn’t the one for rose and she wasn’t the one for him. The forest scenes with the keepers were just amazing. I love Sydney- I am definitely going to read the spin off, I kind off want there to be one for Adrian. I’m disappointed that the bond broke at the end but it did feel like that was necessary for it to be truly resolved.
After being accused of killing the Mori queen, Rose is essential already condemned she is broken out

I finally finished this series. If you know me, you know that I have a hard time finishing a series that I really like. It was time. I read the previous installment back in 2011...Shame on me.

I ended up listening to this one. The audiobook was mediocre, not because of the narration - I quickly ended up liking the narrators voice but because of the dumb music and effects they asked. Like every time Rose would go into Lissa's mind there would be music and in spirit dreams there was an added echo. Super annoying. But like I said the narrator ended up being really awesome. I wasn't sure at first just because to me she didn't sound like Rose. But she gave everyone different accents and voices. Really good. Now Rose sounds different to me.

The book itself was a little long and at times predictable with the relationships. It was not, however, predictable with the murder plot. I really enjoyed figuring out who killed Tatiana. (Not a spoiler - this happened in the last book). I thought all of the characters really grew in this last installment but there were some characters that didn't fully mature with good reason. I'll leave out who and why as it will spoil the story.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Rose is a different character from book one. I would actually want to be friends with the Rose now.
