Сердечко болит за Адриана, но я очень рада этому финалу. Вторую половину книги было так волнительно читать, капец. Перечитывать эту серию было приятно. Может, пройдёт ещё какое-то время и я снова ее перечитаю :)
After I finished the last Previous book in the series I had quoted:
"Mead once again leaves my itching to find out what is going to happen in the next installment as Rose faces a murder charge, has me dying to start it right now and find out what happens next."
As a whole I loved the series, from start to finish but have found some of the book lacking....and to be honest I am not sure how I feel about this, the final book.
Last Sacrifice finds Rose in prison arrested for the murder of Queen Tatiana, whilst sitting contemplating her fate over a crime she didn't committ she trys to work out what is going to happen to her. The only solice she finds is escaping is Lissa mind, however she realises that Lissa is trying to hide something her....it turns out that with the help of Abe, Adrian and Dimitri they help her escape, in order to prove her innocence.
Rose and Dimitri embark on a mission to find the murderer of Queen Tatiana and try to solve the riddle in the note Tatiana gave to Rose...stating Lissa had a sibling living after her father had an affair during his marriage and the child was hidden away. If they can prove this Vasalissa can take her place at court and stand for Queen.
Throughout the series we have seen Rose fight to protect those who are close to her especially Lissa and her friends, find and lose Dimitiri and in doing so lose part of herself. She has been determined and stubborn and I can't help but admire the character. She found Adrian and fell in love with him, he never completed her like Dimitiri, but she kind of made do because she knew Adrian could offered her the comfort and admiration she needed.
However in this the final book everything seems to click into place, she ends up back with Dimitiri starting a new life together, Lissa takes her place as Queen. I should be thrilled after following the series and rooting for her and Dimitri but it just seems to have been so easy, this book for me seemed to lack the dramatics some of the earlier books had. I am I left feeling slightly dissapointed.
Overall a brilliant series and I may read the spin off series at somepoint, will probably be on my never ending TBR later :)

Vampire Academy is one of these series I start with the lowest expectation possible and end up being pleasantly surprised. Indeed, this book series has two great strenghths: Lissa and Rose. I think without them, I would never have kept reading.
Rose and Lissa are both, simply awesome. They're bad-ass (each in their own way), smart, kind and relatable. Their friendship was my favorite thing in the books.
I also liked Adrian and Sydney a lot and I will be glad to read their adventures in the Bloodlines spin-off.
However, I kept being frustrated by a million little things in Vampire Academy and that's why I will never really be a fan of the series. (I will probably go watch the movie, though.)
Maybe YA is too young for me? Maybe I'm too used to the mechanics of the genre? But I could practically guess every plot twist, every mystery killer and every future love interest. The student that falls for her teacher? It's been done so many times and Dimitri never had that much personality imo to grant using such a sad trope. And not liking the main love interest put a pretty damper on my reading experience, tbh. Especially in book 5-6. Also, Adrian seemed to have been created solely for Rose to choose him for a few books, so that it can create some drama and forbidden love tension between her and Dimitri. I hated it so much.
Another one of my issues was the writing. I'm not one of those people who ask of a book to be written with a perfect, poetic prose. I actually prefer sleek, simple prose to authors who like to think themselves Shakespeare ending up writing purple prose. But at times, it felt like Richelle Mead didn't even proofread this or didn't care about silly concepts such as continuity. Sometimes, she'd write Rose thinking one thing and two paragraphs later, she'd write her thinking the exact opposite. It's like, she just wanted to get over writing this but didn't want the book to be too short so she kept inserting all these inner monologues and didn't even bother to check if the whole thing made sense. And seriously, I don't think I've ever seen an author give the traditional subtle summary of the previous books so clumsily and obviously. I ended up skipping every first chapters after the 3rd book because it was so poorly done.
In spite of all those things, I still enjoyed reading the books but he finale to this cute series was cheesy, expected and insufficent. Everyone's issues are extremely poorly handled (yes, this book is for kids, but kids gotta learn that you don't cure from the feeling of having your body violated and used for vile purposes for three entire months just like that. I just don't believe it.), Rose kind of ruined most of her friends' life and Mead merely brushes it off under the carpet as if it wasn't really her fault () and we never even know what happens to Mia Renaldi, for example (whom I actually liked a lot). Everything is nicely tied with a big ribbon, but I can still see all the seams and how crudely the wrapping was made. It feels like Richelle Mead didn't really put any effort into her book and just did the minimum so that she'd get money, which makes me really sad. (It doesn't feel as bad as Cassandra Clare's books in that regard, though.)
I still recommend this book series to you if you enjoy YA, boarding schools, great female characters and friendships.

yes. yes, it is. she could've talked to the authorities in private instead of doing it during the election ceremony, for example. unpleasant things might have been avoided. but no, let's make a spectacle of ourselves and risk people getting shot at, yay!I still recommend this book series to you if you enjoy YA, boarding schools, great female characters and friendships.

Bloody brilliant. The whole series was just perfect. I can't even put into words how much I love the characters and the whole storyline. Also Rose/Dimitri is just the greatest thing ever. God I will miss this so much.
I LOVED this! I need to read the Bloodlines-series as well... Someone give me money haha
