First let me say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I bought it on a whim after seeing the TicTok post about it and the author. I found the short clip heartwarming and took a chance.
I would say that the book didn't change my life or anything, but it was a fun read. The characters were mostly believable and Leigh actually felt as conflicted and confused as she should have been given the situation.
Where the novel begins to fall apart is in the mystery. The answers are uncovered for Leigh rather than her actually finding useful clues and making deductions based on them. Its forgivable given the lead is only 16, but still disappointing.
The antagonist left a bit to be desired as well, as did the dynamics between Leigh and the ghosts. I get the feeling that there was initially a much more elaborate journey to the eventual ending than what was published, and I would have loved to read that version.
Still, I don't regret reading any part of this, and I would definitely return to Simmons-Pierce Manor for another visit. 4/5

Interesting read, but definitely for older YA, maybe 13-15+. Some of the characters were flat, while others were entirely absorbed in themselves. I guess maybe that appeals to the younger crowd? Not one of the favorites that I have read this year. The book could do with some better editing. There are several places where the text seems to contradict itself, and leaves the reader wondering if they missed something, or if pages are missing.

I started and finished this in one day, a super quick and unique read. I really enjoyed it! Interesting characters and multiple plot lines blended into one made for a story I couldn’t put down. While some of the ending may have been predicable, I liked seeing everything come together nonetheless. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Pleasantly surprised by this one!
Maybe like others, I found "Leigh Howard and the Ghost of Simmons-Pierce Manor" by the viral TikTok that went around a few weeks ago. I love, love, LOVE supporting new authors, especially those who may be lesser known. I really didn't know much about this story going in other than it is a murder-mystery type story, but wow, it exceeded anything I could think.
I really was on the edge of my seat for some of the more suspenseful moments! I thought I had it figured it out in the end and I was half right! Nonetheless, still surprised me either way! Amazing work Mr. Warner! Can't wait to see what you do next!
