The idea was nice, but the book was simply boring. I had to drag myself through the middle part. The ending was not what I was expecting, in my head the closing should have been more drastic.

I have never grown up in a place where football rules the school. Even in college if the football team won one game it was a victory. The Revenge Playbook takes a town that is football obsessed and battles it with some serious girl empowerment. I loved how the book is fun but was also realistic. Everything didn’t wrap up in a perfect bow because how could it.

I loved the four girls Peyton, Ana, Melanie Jane and Liv. We get to know more about each girl as we alternate from their perspectives between the past and present. The plot centers around the weeks leading up to the Scavenger Hunt and then the hunt itself. As each girl rehashes her own beef with the football team and why she wants revenge. Their goal is to steal the schools treasured ‘76 football and make the football team have to walk out onto the field naked. I think as the girls uncover and collide more with the football team, it becomes even bigger than that. They want revenge for themselves but for everyone that the team has an impact on negatively.

The book deals with a lot of different issues but it doesn’t really get to in depth for each one. The date rape drug and slut shaming are at the forefront. With some discrimination against equality and IEP’s scratching the surface. It reminded me of times of the news stories that felt like they were everywhere about college teams sexually assaulting people and it being covered up. It’s sad and angering that it happens.

I liked how the girls bond over their plot and end up all becoming friends. I don’t think they get to completely bare their souls simply because there is not enough time but I think after all this they certainly will. I would have liked to know more about Peyton’s situation with Karl. She had taken the first step of getting rid of him on her own but I liked how her friendship with the other girls really showed her she made the right choice.

We also get to see the different degrees of the football team. Some of the guys are just evil like Chad. Some are that stupid awkward where they thinking pushing a girl in the mud will make her think you're cool, like Casey. I actually wondered in the back of my brain if he would be different when not around his friends. Some are just good guys like Rey and Trevor but are just a part of the team because they want to play football.

I liked the ending everything is wrapped up well but not perfect. The ending made sense to me. Overall I did like the book, it definitely kept me intrigued and reading. It focuses on friendship more than anything else and I liked that. A little different read so if you are looking for something that is not so romance involved this a good choice.

I recently read and LOVED 17 First Kisses, so I knew I had to pick up Rachael Allen’s first novel and I had really big expectations. Thankfully, this book followed through!

I love the scavenger hunt aspect of this book as they travel around Nashville and the surrouding area completing the challenges. These little chapters dispersed throughout the book made it so exciting and fun! The narration switches between the perspective of the girls together, in the present, as they complete the scavenger hunt, and the past as they come together to form their plan in all their different times of hurt.

If you love female friendships and feminist heavy books, this is a winner for you! It has so many smart, well done feminist topics as each of the girls are empowered within themselves to be whoever they want to be. They all have been the victims of the favoritism given to the football team and their coaches. For example, one of the girls is assaulted and when she reports this to her school, she is told not to do anything so the boy won’t get his football scholarship taken away. There is also a list of girls claimed ‘not good enough’ to date a football player, so the boys must break up with them. And a girl who has trouble in math class can’t get help, but the football players get homework extensions for games. It is not fun to read about some of these darker topics that are faced. I was so mad at the guys that had done these terrible things. However, I also liked how not every football player were bad. Some of them were really nice to the girls and did not succumb to what they were being told.

The only problem that I had with this book was that the different perspectives blended together. It was hard to differ between all the girls, each with their own sections and boyfriends and friends and family. There were many different names, story lines, and backgrounds that I needed to keep checking whose chapter I was reading so far. The ending was also a little iffy, but I did like how it was all wrapped up.

Overall, this book was really good! It was a great look at some contemporary issues, without being dark the entire time. I would recommend this to fans of 17 First Kisses and this would definitely be worth a try.

Fill up a condom with water. Draw a face on it.Put it under Principal Corso's Doormat, and ding-dong ditch.(one person)

Yup. This book literally made my eyes tear from laughing!

Heart warmingly funny and witty, this book is about finding unexpected true friends and trying to change the world with them.

Written from the perspective of 4 friends, Melanie Jane, Liv, Peyton and Ana, the author tells us a beautiful story. The character, each received the deserved history. Neither was too short that I get hardly to know them or too unncessary.

In this town, where all the footballer's crimes are overlooked, despite how serious, this girls are on a mission to rectify it.

I suggest you look up this book and give yourself a good laugh.

in life, I've been told that you must always have choice. and it was me who told myself this twenty minutes into this book. you can either have alternating perspectives or alternating time periods in a book, but as an amateur "y/a" author, god please never both. I'd honestly give this a 1.5. I think it would have sat with me a lot better if I was 12 and I mean that to say that this is what the intended audience has to be. the whole concept of the book was appealing at first but got very boring very fast. the main characters did have good individual storylines though, however some of the content was definitely appalling. I've never met a single male who cared much about anything so making a list of other people's girlfriends–unrealistic-from what I've been through anyways. I just think it sort of sends the wrong message to young girls that this is what life is like and the only/best way to rise above is revenge.

Light reading, cute, fun and entertaining.

This book was really good, although I normally HATE multiple-POVs, it really fit perfectly in this book.

This one left me on a high. It was fun and quirky and had me laughing out loud so many times. This story is told in 4 different POVs and goes back and forth in time, and the author handled it wonderfully.
