This book is absolutely incredible - I was so excited to start reading it and have not been disappointed. It follows the descendants of two sisters who never met, one of whom marries a slave trader and the other who is sold as a slave and shipped to America. It chronicles the journeys of the two families, detailing the culture and simplicity of the African tribes, and the harrowing stories of how a family escapes slavery to become free. It covers the hatred and bigotry, but also the sacrifices and blood that binds them. It covers 8 generations in total, each one telling their own story and writing their own history.

But at the heart this is a book about love, family, pride and faith, remembering where you come from, and going home.
