When I first heard about this book I was really excited about reading it but then when reading reviews for it a lot of them was bad so I got nervous about reading it. In the end I thought I would give it a try as I might have liked it and I didn't I loved it.

I loved the setting of this book as Ireland is one of my dream places to live and I haven't read a book that was set in Ireland before. I could really imagine the place that she lived in as it was beautifully described. I think the reason why it's described so well is that Leigh Fallon lives in Dublin Kinsale which is where it's set. I have read other books set in the UK and Scotland but these authors are usually from America so I don't feel they have the description of the setting right unlike Fallon.

I think this is Fallon's debut book and it's such a brilliant start where will she go from here I
hope she just gets better and better.

This book I do feel like it's similar to The Twilight Saga but this time with magic. I still love it and Twilight.

Megan's character was a good one but not the best I have read. She is quite similar to Bella's character in Twilight in the way that she lives with her Dad which she has moved into a new time where she gets obsessed with the Deris family which everyone did at first but the family kept to themselves so everyone just left them alone (there is more but it will give away some of the plot). The biggest difference and the best is she is more feistier and has more of an opinion which was the main flaw in Bella. I am looking forward to see how Megan will cope with her ever growing powers.

I loved Adam's character but I don't think he was in the book enough so I am hoping we will get to see him some more in the coming books. I love the way he is protective of the ones he loves. He is a strong and powerful lead guy which I love in my leading men!

The relationship between Megan and Adam was great to see I am looking forward but nervous to see how there relationship will change throughout the series.

I love the magic elements of this series as I haven't read much about magic unless they are Wizards or Witches so it's a refreshing change to not even mention the term Witch/Wizards.

Overall a great start to what I hope is going to be a great series, can't wait to read the rest.

Vedete è sempre la stessa storia: una ragazza timida che non sa di essere una figa stratosferica, che non ha mai avuto un ragazzo, e che guarda caso risveglia l'ormone l'interesse del bello, chiuso e distante di turno.
Metteteci la mitologia pseudo-celtica e avete The Mark. I vampiri brillantinosi e vegetariani e avete Twilight (e il Conte Dracula che si rivolta nella bara), i frustini e la psicosi e avete le 50 Sfumature. Ho un dejà-vu...

This book was pretty obviously the author's first novel. The plot and premise were pretty good, but her style could definitely use some work.
The beginning of the book is extremely cheesy. It starts withe the classic YA paranormal romance trope: Girl moves to new school; Girl meets aloof, mysterious boy; Girl and boy feel strange, intense connection; Boy stares at girl; Girl stares at boy; Boy stares at girl....
Finally Megan and Adam are forced to actually interact, when he has to save her from drowning while she was somehow submerged under water while wearing a life vest. In the process of being a hero, Adam accidentally reveals some of his mysterious powers. It soon comes out that Adam and his family are controllers of the elements--water, earth and fire--and that Megan is newly coming into her power as the fourth element--air. As soon as Adam and Megan get near each other, they fall passionately and over-dramatically in love, and moments of cheesiness continue to appear throughout the book.
However, once the plot gets rolling, the writing style improves significantly. It took a little while, but I found myself being draw to the characters and eager to find out what happens next.
I'm going to read the sequel and am quite confident that Fallon's writing will improve as she goes along.

this was terrible and i kinda liked it? like obvs v bad book but like, it made weeding the garden kind of ok?

Yeah. So, I have no idea why I even bothered finishing up the book. I hardly liked the female character. The story had nothing that was all too exciting. It was not predictable but slow and boring. No action, gooey-pukelicious swooning of the main leads, seriously, I never call chemistry between the main characters bad, unless it actually is. The way they acted around each other was seriously unbearable. I liked the characters on the sideline much more. Rian was kinda my type of character with the brooding, sizzling hottie thing going on for him. Fionne was a smart character. Aine would be the only character that I actually liked along with Randel, the bird.
Moving on to the storyline, it really had nothing much going on. I didn’t understand most of it and didn’t even try hard to frame questions that I normally end up with after reading most of the books that lead to sequels. As you may have already guessed, I’m not gonna be reading the sequel. The female lead, what was her name? ummmm.. Meghan, see, don’t even remember her name. That speaks volume about how much I liked her character. Anyways, she was just stupid. Plain stupid and reckless. Couldn’t she take those stings in her Mark as signals and let the others know about it? Noooo.. The girl has to act as if it’s just her imagining things, when she clearly has got a lesson on believing her instincts before. Even before she got kidnapped and went for that horse riding, she had that feeling and shrugged it off. She called it on herself and because of her careless attitude; Adam and Fionne had to undergo major surgeries. Let’s not forget the panic attacks she caused everyone around her. Ugh! Stupid female leads. I don’t even think about her anymore, so I’m gonna end my review and rate the book with maybe 2 stars. I hope that’s not much. Maybe a 1.5. Signing off.

easy read, nothing too in depth

The similarities to Twilight are a bit much. I was willing to over look them, but the resolution to the story happened too quickly for me.

Overall, I was swept away from the very first page of Carrier of the Mark, and I found myself thinking about it for a long time after it was over. I know that I will be anxiously awaiting more from Leigh Fallon, and suggest that those who enjoy a romance, and paranormal action in their YA, pick this one up!

AMAZING BOOK!!!! One of my all time favorites:)

I don't normally review anymore because I have no time (hello newborn) but for this one I must. Because it was a goddamn rip off of a certain other teen saga. Let's see if we can guess shall we?
So we have an insecure girl new to town who falls immediately in love with the brooding boy that all the other girls say is mysterious and don't bother, the whole family is weird. By the next chapter Megan has found herself in love with Adam and he's telling her he just can't keep himself away from her. His sister Anya (*cough* Alice) is super excited to have a new girlfriend when Adam brings Megan over to meet the family. Adams sullen brother Rian (*cough* Rosalie) hates their powers and advises Megan against becoming like them.
Sound familiar yet?
Megan and Adam have to refrain from having sex because there's the potential for death, and there's constant conversations of "forever" and how he will keep her safe from danger.
Get it yet? If you guess twilight, you win! This book is a total copy cat. So painfully done. I'm sure I could spend time and find quotes from each book that are basically the exact same but I think others have already done that and I don't have the time. Just for the love of god don't bother reading this.
