I had to keep on reading

So many twists you have to keep reading to find out what is going to happen! Great characters and an unusual story which I loved!

Not usually one for 'ghost' books, but neither is my dad who recommended this one to me. sometimes i thought that part was a but much, but i liked the characters and the 'twist ending' - although i had figured out many of the surprise connections earlier on.

Jodi Picoult is a rare one-of-a-kind author - I was completely blown away the very first time I picked up one of her books.

The "problem" (for lack of a better word) with devouring everything you can by an exceptional author, there comes a point where those twists and turns that left you stunned can be easily predicted. So the 3 stars I give "Second Glance" comes with a caveat that perhaps it was more down to Jodi Picoult saturation than any major flaw in the book - after all I really *wanted* to adore it.

Besides being able to foresee the turns the novels too, I felt the quotes on eugenics in Part Two detracted from the book. And despite loving the supernatural angle, I couldn't connect with one of the main characters. My final complaint was the sudden and abrupt ending; however being fair to Jodi Picoult, I'm the type of person who likes stories to be wrapped up in a neat little bow.

It won't stop me from reading Picoult but at the same time I would recommend another one of her masterpieces to those new to her work.

I really liked this one. I found it refreshingly different from her other books. So often, she writes about deep, dark things that destroy families and give me nightmares. This one was different. While there was plenty of deep, dark family drama - the way it was presented was different. It was like a long episode of the X files!

I also didn't see the final twist coming in the end. Most of the twists I saw coming, but the final one made me gasp out loud!

Loved it and definitely recommend it!

This was my least favorite Picoult book I have read to date. I had a hard time staying focused, therefore I had a hard time following all of the different characters and the back and forth of time.

This was a bit of a different Jodi Picoult book to me. Though it carried her typical themes of sadness and angst, it had a different twist...it was basically a ghost story! I enjoyed the twists and turns the plot took and was pleased with the ending, which hasn't always been the case for me with this author.

I didn't want to read it. Frankly, she lost me at "ghost story". But it was our book club selection, so I read it. The book grew on me. The eugenics story was interesting. The ghost story was a bit over the top. I heard from several of her fans that her stories have good plot twists and unexpected endings, but I didn't find that to be true. I thought everything was a little predictable. Overall it was entertaining and thought-provoking.

I read this a while ago and really enjoyed it!

Originally I was very unimpressed with this book, so much so that after about 120 pages I had to go online and read some reviews to see if I wanted to finish it or not. I don't just not finish books so that was saying a lot. Initially I was confused and I felt that the story was very choppy. But once I got to part 2 things really started to pick up and this turned out to be a wonderful book. Once again Jodi Picoult really takes things one step deeper and really makes you think long and hard about your place in this world. While this is not my favorite book of hers it is definitely up there on the list of favorites by her.
