This book was hard to get into--in fact, it is the last of the Jodi books I read because I couldn't even get past the first chapter for years! But I've heard and read that this is Jodi's favorite book of the ones she's written so I HAD to give it a try. The subject matter was really interesting and it was SUCH a good mystery! The eugenics part was interesting. I'm not a big believer in ghosts and stuff but I was captivated! So glad I gave it another try!

The pieces were put together really well with a nice, intricate story. There were some interesting topics and the ending was really well done. But I was bored for most of the book. It’s just not my style.

This was a great book. Normally I would say I love this book, and you probably will when you read it. I'm maybe not in the best emotional place for a story that turns out great at the end! I don't want to spoil the surprises, so just go read it. It has elements of ghost story, romance, and a hefty dose of love between parent and child. It's a wonderful story and I know you all will enjoy it.

4/7/15 - Several years ago, I read anything by Picoult I could get my hands on. I liked all but one of the ones I read. This particular one and one other weren't at my local library branch and I wasn't yet really using the inter-library loan, so I stuck them on my to-read list and forgot about them. I've been trying to clear out that list some, so I got to this one.

Yeah. I got through maybe a chapter and a half when I realized that I just didn't care. There was no cohesion and too many characters without enough to really distinguish them. It might have gotten better had I kept reading, but I just didn't really want to. So yeah.

I usually love all of Jodi Picoult’s books but this one fell short for me. It was very slow in the beginning and it dragged in parts through out.

My favorite Jodi Picoult book, hands downs. Always ready with a gripping story, this book is no different. Written from each characters view is always an attention grabber and this book is the best in her series.

I don’t know if it was inability to focus or just life stuff that made me take a while to read this book. I almost dnf’ed it. It was hard to get into only because I was reading in small chunks. So my fault….but wow…at one point I thought this might be my least favorite by Jodi Picoult….I couldn’t believe that I was feeling this way about it….
I said to myself….if you pick it up this time and you can’t get into it…put it down for a bit and read something else.. then I couldn’t put it down…all the way to the end! How could I even doubt JP?!? She’s one of my favorite authors for a reason! Loooved this!

3.5 stars for there NOT being a classic JP twist at the end, lame, and also for SPOILER--Ross being in love with a dead girl from SEVENTY YEARS AGO. Bad plot point, JP.
