This book was totally different than anything else she's written and it ended up being one of my favorites by her. Just stick with it! I thought it was a great story.

This book was about to turn into a dust collector. I do not like ghost stories that try to be set in the "real" world and couldn't figure out what made me buy this novel in the first place. Once I got over my initial misgivings, it turned into a good read that actually kept me awake into the wee hours of the morning.

On first glance (pardon the pun), I wasn't crazy about this book. As a matter of fact, a few years ago, the first time that I picked it up, I didn't finish it b/c I couldn't get past the first 10 or so pages. This time I stuck w/ it, and I'm glad b/c the pieces started to come together when the author gives you Lia's story in the second part.

3.5 stars for there NOT being a classic JP twist at the end, lame, and also for SPOILER--Ross being in love with a dead girl from SEVENTY YEARS AGO. Bad plot point, JP.

I really like Jodi Picoult, but this book was not up to the standard I’m used to with her story telling.

Just like any other Picoult book, Second Glance deals with a lot of different issues, and none of them black and white. As usual we have multiple narrators to draw us into such diverse issues as ghost hunting/the supernatural, xeroderma pigmentosum (being allergic to the sun), rights of native Americans, the ethical issues of eugenics - as it was performed in the 1920's and 30's, and as it is performed today when choosing which fertilized eggs to use.

It is a story of love, of loss, of chances, of fate and destiny, lies, truth, of the supernatural and the blatantly every day things we take for granted.

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure if I was going to like how the author jumped back and forth between point of views within the chapters (or parts of the book), but she managed to make each perspective compelling enough to remain interesting.

Great!
