good read. I picked this up because at a book reading by Jodi Picoult she mentioned that this was her favorite book that she had written. It deals with the paranormal and the eugenics project in Vermont in the 30's. I had a hard time getting into it (it was the ghost thing) but it turned out to be surprisingly good and with some good twists at the end.

Saw Jodi Picoult a couple weeks ago speaking in Portland. She said this was her favorite book that she wrote.
-Finished the book. Was not one of my favorites of hers, but it was a very intricate story.

I listened to this book in my car. I did not love it, but it kept me interested enough to keep listening for 15 CD's. There was a lot going on in this story. Almost too much. I feel like Picoult packed too much in this one. Ghosts, American Indians, Eugenics.. there was a lot. I did listen to the interview Picoult did with the reader and it was a great interview and gave me new insights into the story. It's weird to learn to like a book a little more after you read it.

Judi Picoult has a style of writing that really pulls you in, and this book is no different. It was a little difficult in the beginning, as she introduced a whole lot of characters, with no clear way of seeing how they were all intertwined.

However, once you got past the introductions, the novel really took off. This is a story about the human range of emotions. From love to despair, this book covers it all.

I'd have rated it higher than three stars, because I truly did enjoy it, however I did find it a bit predictable throughout. There wasn't much I wasn't able to figure out long before it was explained in the book. Though, like most of her novels, her ending did include a bit of a surprise that wasn't expected.

All in all, a very good book.

Not my favorite Jodi Picoult book but once I started the second third of it I couldn’t put it down until the end

I know, another Jodi Picoult. This had an interesting storyline. Like most of her books, I liked it.

This was my first Jodi Piccoult book, and I can’t say it disappointed me in anyway. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the supernatural/spiritual elements that were weaved expertly with science. I loved the timeline of the story and how the information unfolded before the reader. This book was most the perfect example of “there are some things that we are unable to explain and maybe that’s okay”. I personally found this story incredibly touching and moving.

More like 4.5, and only because it took me almost 80 pages to get really engaged. But once I did, this book ended up blowing away my expectations, and honestly Picoult's writing does that a lot for me. Beautifully crafted, with stunning details and characters that jump off the page, grab a cup of coffee, and plop down on the couch next to you to tell their stories. I could not love Second Glance more.

I love Jodi Picoult's books, and was just really disappointed in this one. I read 95% of this book just waiting for something to happen, only to have the last couple of chapters have all the action and story in it. It was really disappointing compared to prior work by this author.

Giving 1 star to one of my favorite authors feels sacrilege, but I legitimately hated this book. I though "Oooh, paranormal vibes and a Picoult storyline? LOVE IT!" Turns out, I didn't love it. Perhaps her earlier works aren't for me.
