Not that much happened in this installment of the Outlander series. The first half of the book focused a lot on Claire and Jamie’s day-to-day doings at Fraser’s Ridge and was pretty boring. The second half was more interesting as it had more to do with the Revolution. William’s and Lord John’s storylines are my favorites right now, and I look forward to finding out what happens with them in the next book. It also seems like the end of the war is imminent in book 10- hopefully we won’t have to wait another 7 years for it.
3* Pretty disappointed overall, even a little pissed off.
Considering this is a 50 hour audiobook, I feel like not a whole hell of a lot happened. There are a lot of loose ends that have been left unresolved. Story followed multiple POVs where we got a lot of detail in the lead up to things and then little resolution before it hopped to the next person. All in all, I loved and have reread the first 8 many times - I would NEVER read this one again.
It was like one of those films that solely exists to build up the next film.
Narrator was brilliant, as always.

Disappointing.
I don't even know where to begin. Of course it was great to meet the characters again and see what they've become but some plot points just felt wrong. I believe a book should have a story arc of some sort and this one didn't really have it. It just closed old arcs from previous books and opened new ones (I won't spoil anything but let me just say "Richardson", those who have read the book will understand). I'm guessing that DG had to justify what he'd done in the previous books but this... well it seems far fetched and I'm note sure where this is going. The new characters took up so much space that we didn't even get to catch more than a glimpse of Roger, Fergus and Marsali. I was a fan but this book makes me want to rethink about the series. I'm not even sure I will be waiting for book 10.
I listened to the audio version and it was a deception as well. I feel like some characters don't have the same voice as before and the sound quality was mediocre (cuts and difference of tones between cuts). Sad, sad day.
