End of the World books are definitely not my usual read but I could not help but be completely engrossed with this story. There are so many characters in this book and I connected with each of them so intimately and the plot is just crazy good. No other way to describe it. I'm so glad I waited to read this so I can jump straight into Of Blood and Bone. FYI, for romance readers who follow my reviews, I would definitely not classify this as romance but it is AMAZING!

Well - that was unexpected. I haven't been an extensive Nora Roberts reader. What I've read has been mainly her mainstream romance. But as an avid post-apocalyptic reader, and a recent fantasy convert, this book intrigued me. And it didn't disappoint. Robert's creates a world where a virus wipes out more than half the world's population. In its wake, a society lays in ruins - with a segment of the population who have developed certain powers, and another segment trying to rid the world of anyone who's not like them. For a book with a fantasy element to it, it was interesting to see how real the world in the book felt. Watching as survivors tried to hold on to some sense of normalcy, even in the chaos, felt very honest. Exploring how communities could be spun up and how cut off they would be from the rest of the world, also felt very real. Roberts also creates characters you care about - something she's always been good at - but isn't afraid to sacrifice them for the sake of the story. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre.

This story of a killer virus is a combination of hope, horror, chaos and magick, and a journey that will unite a desperate group of people to fight the battle of their lives. Where there had been order, there is now chaos. The power of science and technology has receded, magick rises up in its place. It shows how much today's society relies on technology and when everything shuts down those who are quick thinking and persistent go on.

I loved how the writer wrote in a dual plot structure. This opened up so many different scenes showing both good magick and bad throughout. Some of it is unimaginably evil, and can appear at any given moment. Having people living in fear. The way the author describes some of the horrific scenes are not for the faint of heart. It is vivid and almost tangible at times. This structure of writing also showed people without magick and what they were going through.

I really enjoyed reading this book and would read it again and I am excited to read the next in the series.

So this is just not what I expected it to be, it's a fantasy/post-apocalyptic book with romantic elements. I just didn't really care about the characters very much because there were just too many of them.

! virus breaks out and kills a million people in a manner of weeks. Those who are immune and those who are magickal flee into a survival situation. There’s magic(k), there’s suspense, there’s a little love, there’s Nora Roberts with her excellent dialogue - I enjoyed it

God I loved this book. I read the entire thing in 3 days which is pretty quick for me. This book had me absolutely hooked. This is my first novel that I have ever read by Nora Roberts and it did not disappoint. I know she usually does romance novels and was confused as to why this book was recommended to me because I never read romance. After reading the description i decided to give the book a shot and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are a fan of fantasy with a touch of romance then pick up this book right now.

Liked it but nothing crazy

I really enjoyed this first book in this series and can't wait for the next one! From a plague that wipes out a huge amount of humanity, to witches and other fantastical beings, this book has characters you root for and gives hope in a dark world.

My favorite novel by Nora Roberts. She didn't necessarily follow her predictable plot point formula.
