Light read that is all

Nothing much to this book cute plot... still not sure what exactly Ethan does. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is a book you could pick up and easily read on a beach day.

4.5 stars! Gahhh I love all of the books R.S. Grey puts out, and this was no exception! Taylor and Ethan are probably 2 of my favorite characters she has written and I love the emotion in their story (and yet there’s still plenty of Grey’s trademark comedy, too!). It was a little more of a slow burn romance than I typically go for, but it worked so well for these characters. I absolutely loved this one!

You know.. this started off rather slow for me.. and then at parts I was just kind of bored with everything.

Coldhearted Boss is just another book that kind of let me down. I don't know what it is with me and R.S. Grey books - sometimes they are so on point that I'm in love.. and other times I'm just like...wait, what book am I reading again? Always one or the other - no in-betweens.

That being said, this definitely fell into the 'wait what' category. In it, you will meet Taylor and Ethan. They sort of had chemistry at points in the book but it also felt like - hey, we are both here let's do this thing. Again, I liked this book and the two main characters were alright in their own way but the romance felt so forced.

Yeah, they both sort of had a weird connection in the bar the first night they 'met' but alcohol was involved. Then the whole thing at the camp felt weird to me. Sort of forced and it kind of made me cringe, but whatever. To each their own I guess? I will admit that the ending was cute but that was about it.

Overall, they got their happy ending and she got her college degree - yay?

I really wanted to like this, but eh, it just didn't do it for me. While it wasn't a deal breaker, there was a time in chapter 10 that Taylor says she survived a night in the cabin with Ethan and then two pages later she's calling Ethan Him because she hasn't learned his name yet... That little mistake kind of bothered me.

Overall, I just didn't feel Taylor and Ethan's chemistry. While I love a good slow burn romance, this just felt like a slow burn that skipped to the ending. I feel like they spent the whole book hating each other without an ounce of flirtation and then all of a sudden are dating and talking about what they will do and where they will live after the project is over. It was all way too fast for me. I did like the characters individually and I even enjoyed the epilogue. As a whole, especially compared to other Grey books, this one just missed the mark for me.

4,5 stars.

I've been waiting for this book for so long. My love for R.S. Grey is no secret so any new books by her, I highly anticipate. I need my dose, and I'm happy to say I got it! And it was so so so good!

I absolutely loved Ethan and Taylor, the banter and the tension between them was sweet and hot at the same time. It's a slow burn romance with all the right fun and sexy moment to keep you going and wanting more. I can't believe it's already finished. I need more!

I recommend, especially if you like a hot hero that is losing his mind over a feisty and charming heroine and doesn't know what to do about it so he decides to hate her instead and that's so fun because she's struggling as well. Oh did I mention they're stuck together in the middle of nowhere ?

Taylor is in a bad place at the start of this book. She’s broke, in a horrible job, helping support her mother and younger sister, and now the car that gets her to work is broken down. She can’t get out of her small town. So while she’s waiting at a bar for her cousin to pick her up after work, she’s pretty down. When a hot stranger buys her a drink and then flirts with her, she’s attracted to him but also desperate. So she steals his wallet and tells him they will meet in his room. She chickens out, gives the wallet to the bartender with the cash in it, and takes off with her cousin.

Ethan is reasonably pissed at the hot girl who stole his wallet. Even though he gets it back, the cash is gone. So when he sees her in a job line for the construction site he’s leading, he gives her a job as his personal assistant with the intention of being petty.

Maybe I like the idea of toying with her a little, teaching her a lesson. Maybe my pride has finally found a way to seek resolution in the form of retribution. I feel like the big bad wolf setting a trap. I almost feel bad for her.
Almost.

I really didn’t blame him on that one.

Despite Taylor making a horrible choice at the start - she did grow on me. A lot of the drama would have been saved if she had just come clean about everything, but Ethan needed time to see Taylor not being a thief to believe her anyway. Their mutual attraction is there, and the tension is high.

“But you already hate me.” I don’t refute that. Right now, I hate what she’s doing to me. I hate how I’m reacting to her. There’s a lot of hate tangling with lust and it’s hard to separate one feeling from another. Maybe I do hate her. Or maybe it’s the exact opposite.

I was a little hesitant about this one after absolutely hating the authors last novel Make Me Bad. But this was a nice return to form of other books by R S Grey.

If you are looking for an enemies to lovers contemporary rom com - I highly recommend this book or Arrogant Devil by the same author.

RS Grey's last few books have been hit or miss for me but this one was definitely a hit. Give me enemies-to-lovers any day. I also think I kind of love this trope of being forced to live together?? It worked here. The reason I didn't give this five stars is because I think Ethan is a little too harsh on Taylor in the beginning but I liked that she was a heroine who didn't take any crap and just went for what she wanted.
