Hauptfigur alles, was man eigentlich nicht machen sollte.

(+)

This is not a book for the faint of heart.

TW for those who are prone to reactions from sensitive topics:
Mentions of forced breeding, Rape, Assault, Forced Births / Taking of children after birth, death, mentions of suicide, death during pregnancy.

Mistress of Dragons is a novel that captivated my from page 1. While I had sadly read other reviews (1 Star with many spoilers) that tended to ruin major plot elements to contend that the book did not handle topics well or with need, I trudged on. What I found was a book desperate to be read as the first in a trilogy I hope I one day get to finish. There are many points of view, and it can be confusing, adding to the possibility of having a false narrator. But I strongly advise you to read this book if it peaks your interest at all.

The mentions of trigger warning content are sprinkled throughout the pages. The topic of rape doesn’t occur till near the end of the novel as well, leaving you plenty of pages to see if this book is for you.

Sadly, the spoiler ridden 1 Star reviews are correct, and the ending was spoiled for me. If anything this should have been a prequel novel to a full trilogy, but I won’t describe why.

Cover to cover I devoured this like a blood thirsty dragon. 5/5.

I am pretty disappointed with this book. It is not what I thought it would be. I always love a good book about dragons but this book had some rape and forced pregnancy in it with some lesbianism and that all is just not my cup of tea.

The only problem I have with this book is some of the character names. The character that is a dragon is human form is named Dragonas. DRAGONAS. Oh my God, that is so dumb.

I didn't like this book. It's not because of the lesbianism and it's not because of the non-unique plot. I was actually really enjoying myself for the first half of the book. I couldn't wait to find out who the traitor dragon was, and what was going to happen in the monastery, and how long it would take the king to find out about the dragon man. Unfortunately, it turned into a story about a whiny irritating woman and a fawning unfaithful king traveling across the country to fulfill a strange solution to the evil dragon problem. It all started when the main character's lover decided to believe a very untrustworthy character. It irritates me that someone that supposedly loves the main character will believe the crap someone makes up, just like that. It only got worse from there. The plot disintegrated and became non-plausible. Everything was pretty much hanging on traveling to the new land over the mountains to discover how the evil dragon was doing things. So when they made it there a little over halfway through the book, there wasn't much left to talk about. I loved the dragonlance series and I'm really hoping to enjoy other books written by Weis and Hickman, but so far it has not gone well (Mistress of Dragons and Well of Darkness).

I slept on this and now I'm even more angry? The writing is fineish, but the premise? Dumpster fire worthy. Why in the world did we create a loving lesbian relationship just to destroy it with forced/drugged sex/impregnation AND then dragon rape/impregnation. It's gross. Do not recommend.

I've read books by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman before but this is the first book I've read just by Margaret Weis. And I have to say I'm not very impressed. The entire story was way to sexual. Between dragon rape and leisbien sex and straight sex, I felt like I was reading a D&D porno novel.
