Wow. Lots of stuff to process here. Amazing story, incredibly well written. I felt especially connected to it as my uncle is struggling with terminal cancer right now. Definitely recommend this book!!

I'm so happy I picked up this book when I did. It came to me at just the right time. My dear Auntie Prudie passed it on to me on a recent visit. We have shared a life long love of books and talking about books. In fact, I give her credit for making me a reader. So many of the books referenced in Will Schwalbe's book are titles we've shared. I just can't get over it. I am so thankful for this book. And I am truly inspired by the life of Mary Ann Schwalbe and this beautiful book by her son.
informative reflective medium-paced

Many parallels from this book to my life, with a missionary mother who died of pancreatic cancer. Also, many many differences. But, very thoughtful, honest, and thought-provoking story. I made several notes on things to remember, such as "When you are with a dying person, sometimes you have to celebrate the past, live in the present, and mourn the future all at the same time."

This has to be one of the most boring books I've ever read. Had I not been reading it for book club I'd have stopped. Not only does the author fail to intrigue the reader, he ruins about 200 books during his. Boring

Read this book.
For any person that has lost a parent, or any person who has thought about the hole that will be left when you do.
For lovers of literature - and the power of books in our lives.
A perfect little rememberance of a mother

P.S. - I cried at work at the end. But I was smiling.

Fabulous book! I'd put off reading it for a while because I thought it would be sad. There are definitely poignant moments throughout the book, but I absolutely loved reading this book. An unexpected perk of this book was being inspired to read more and hearing about all the books the author & his mother read together!

This book was just ok. I'd hoped to read more about the books Will read with his mother. It was a sad, but touching story of a son and his mother sharing a love of literature and life.

I enjoyed the relationships explored and it made me think more about what I'm doing with my life. I didn't really add any "to read" books though from the books explored.

Great story. What a beautiful way to spend time with his mother. I love that she knew he was going to write this and sent him notes to include in the book.
