going between 3 and 4 stars so rating 3.5 rounded up to 4 because i liked it. This was really good and i loved the mixing of history and fantasy and the changing of history. It was way too long but i also liked how the story followed her from childhood to present especially since you see how indoctrinated people become by their family. I also liked the history aspect of it and how the Romanov family was never composed of actually great rulers so it was interesting. The slow burn also had me in an absolute chokehold and u moved the magic of the book. it was also fun seeing an adult version of a movie you loved so much growing up and a story you were taught in class.
however i knock off the points because i hated the way it ended and it just kind of annoyed me. but it also made me happy and it’s fantasy so i guess nothing is impossible. but i was like what was the point for those 200 pages in the middle then if it was gonna—nvm
