Ryker and Calla are my new favorite couple in the Bellandi Crime Syndicate Series! Both of these characters tug at my heart strings while speeding up my pulse with delight. Sexy, sweet and high on the swoon meter, this story brings the perfect blend of darkness and light. Five stars for this extremely enjoyable read!

Stalker romance will always be a conundrum for me, mostly Iโ€™m not into them, and honestly, this one almost went over my threshold of tolerance. The only things that save it is how sweet Ryker is towards the children. Ryker might have been waiting for Calla for years, so his patience is wearing thin by the time he works out his plan to take Calla and her children. Some of his actions are questionable at best, but itโ€™s not worse than what the other Bellandi men did. I just wish he wasnโ€™t so demanding and gave Calla a little bit of time, not a choice per se, as we know these men wonโ€™t give it!

I love the scenes where they all spend time at Matteoโ€™s Estate, the found family they have is so beautiful and fucked up at the same time, and I love it. If Adelaide Forrest isnโ€™t so busy, I might think sheโ€™s planning to do a second generation, what with how she sets up Axel in this book.

This is my least favorite of the series. You can have a strong male lead who's dark and dangerous without having him
Spoilerstraight up kidnap, coerce, and rape his love interest
. Not attractive, and not cool. Mafia men in general are not good role models, but even in this genre there's opportunities for a truly strong man to admit his mistakes, apologize, and be selfless. I get Ryker is supposed to be unhinged and he is, but he should have been condemned and punished for his actions by his friends and Calla, not praised and coddled.

I don't have triggers, but this frustrated me. I hate when authors shaft their female leads. You build up this expectation of a "Bellandi woman" throughout the series who's opinionated, powerful in her own right even when powerless, and doesn't take anyone's shit. Yet when it comes down to it, Calla
Spoilerbecomes some wanton slut who forgets her kids, her values, and whatever else her character was supposed to be when faced with a muscly man with a big dick
. Not for me, fam.

The female narrator was one of the worst, narrators I have heard. I only listen to it because they were free on audible.

4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this installment.

Loved Ryker, while his past was a mystery/secret for most of the book, I adored him. Sure, he's a "bad" guy, sure he disposes of other bad people, and ok fine, he stalked and kidnapped Calla. I don't care. He deserves all the love.

Honestly what kept this from being a full 5 stars, was Calla. And it makes me question myself a little bit but again don't care. Yes, he stalked Calla. Yes, he basically kidnapped her. Yes, he kills people. But he was a sweetheart to Calla and her kids. And every time she pushed him away or closed herself off to him, I just wanted to pull her aside and ask if she was nuts. He loves and protects you, he loves and protects your children, he treats your two children like they are his own, what is wrong with you?

So, if Calla had been a little less standoff-ish with Ryker, I probably would have rated this a full 5 stars but Calla kept getting on my nerves.

I loved the kids too, they were so cute and I loved how quickly they warmed up to Ryker, I loved when Calla finally started to accept Ryker and the killer side of him. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I always enjoy an OTT and possessive hero, then you add stalker and I am here for it. Adelaide Forest is one of the best at writing these type of heroes. Ryder was everything you need in the stalker/possessive man.

I would have given it 5 stars, but I had to doc a star for how annoying Calla could be and how long it was for the story it was telling. I get that he stalked her and kinda forced her into this relationship but she fought it for most of the book. She just got on my nerves. Also, this book could have been 100 pages shorter. It got repetitive in the middle, just going through the same cycle of Calla wanting Ryker but then denying or fighting it.

Still a great story and I will definitely continue the series.

Honestly, I donโ€™t know what to rate this book, so I thought why not just go for the middle. I have very mixed opinions about this book.

I usually love books like these and not much scares me or makes me not like a book, but I think it was the way Ryker what about the whole situation with what Calla wanted that made me question how much I like this book. Like I get that he was trying to protect her and that she was being really suborn when she didnโ€™t really need to be, but he never once treated her as an equal. I usually donโ€™t mind books like that, but in those books, the story always resolved with the mafia mmc acknowledging this and working towards treating the fmc as an equal. That just didnโ€™t happen in this book. I feel like Calla just gave up in general and it just didnโ€™t make me like the book as much.

Another thing I didnโ€™t like was that we only hear about his backstory towards the end when he was forced to tell it. I feel that it would have had more of an impact on Calla and their trust if he had chosen to be vulnerable to Calla out of his own free will.

Now, did that make me hate the book? No. I love how devoted Ryker is Calla (also love the stalking trope) and to her kids. Ryker is an AMAZING father and it was so heartwarming to see them together. Also, the kids were so adorable

Grieved Loss is DARK, and that's one of the reasons that I loved it. Ryker loves hard and perhaps and bit too hard, but that's what I loved about him. Calla just just wants to do what's best for her and her children. There are some interesting twists that I did not see coming in this one, and between those and Ryker's craziness, I did not want to put Grieved Loss down.
