I am so torn because Morning Star had all the promise to be my favorite book of the initial trilogy and they kinda tanked it with the ending.

Let me just say this was a very good story concept that I *personally* think was SO close SO many times to being amazing, but just has too many elements that detract from the rating. That being said I will NOT be continuing the series as based on everything I’ve seen, the first three do make a comfortable enough trilogy that you can just let these characters rest in the void and not put them through more torture by reading about them in the future where the world still sucks.

Mustang FINALLY gets some actual leadership in this series but that imo gets undermined by the weird ass needless plot twist of an ending. But I did by this book actually finally like Darrow and Sevro and the band of crazies. I think they finally showed some character growth in meaningful ways, and I enjoyed at least the way the war was ended before Mustang’s big reveal at the very end.
