Good book with a great concept but a bit stretched out

This book made me ask big questions. Questions like:

Why did I read it? It became available at the library.
Why did I put a hold on it in the first place? Not sure, maybe thought it would talk about strategy games.
Why did I read more than half of it? I put it on during a run, and it’s a short audiobook.

Look, Bet-David made it very clear that he and I are never going to be friends. Almost everything about his persona rubs me the wrong way. I hadn’t heard of him beforehand, but doing some research after reading the first few chapters seems to show that he’s a right-wing enabling, MLM profiting, billionaire cheerleading weirdo, and I have no desire to give him any more attention or credibility.

I'll say I was excited for the start of the book, anticipating that it would get deeper into how to execute the frameworks/suggestions he was setting up well with stories, and I was left wanting.

Having said that, I did quite enjoy the pieces toward the end around people, hiring/firing and negotiating win-win deals by offering value. Books around business tend to do that - some stuff you're simply in the right place to absorb, and other stuff, completely rubbish. Read it again when you're in a different mind and new things resonate.

This book really under-delivers what it actually offers. I don´t think anyone would master the art of business strategy after reading it. In addition, the tone in which it is written is extremely off-putting and makes any valuable advice given seem unserious. If you will read this, be prepared for the ''grind/hustle'' kind of talk you get from all those get-rich-fast YouTubers and Tiktokers. The author came across to me as extremely egocentric and self/absorbed and the anecdote about the tailormade painting of himself with inspiring historical figures was both cringe and disturbing. It was actually funny how, as I was approaching the end of the book, a short video on youtube of the author appeared on my feed - it was him complimenting and idolizing Andrew Tate. Unrelevant fact to this book review, but hopefully, that will make a case for not reading this book and save your time and potentially your money as well.

An asinine little book where once you remove other people's thoughts (often unattributed), self-aggrandizing stories, and conventional wisdom, what you have left is five--possibly valuable--blog posts that are entirely impossible to extract from the fluff that surrounds them.

I continue to attempt to read these business self-help materials to find something of consequence. As an entrepreneur and a business strategist, not a day goes by where I wouldn't benefit from some truly wise outside perspective.

Unfortunately, the category continues to be populated by the kind of material that hasn't graduated from "If I can do it, you can too!" sophomoric self-help.

The good information is only on the second half of the book. The first half was a drag.

Following Pat for a long time on social media and following his professional development and personal development as an entrepreneur and a person running company in a financial world, this book shares years of experience and personal insights on a persona of an entrepreneur, a persona of a person who wants more control in ever-changing world and stability among fast-paced changes in the world.
This book is not necessarily a material/resource for a person who is entering or trying to stabilize the position in the business or financial world, but also for anyone who is entering the world of carrier development, also anyone interested in making his/hers position more stable in case of personal or worldwide cataclysms and changing external stimuli and expectations from a particular field,
Overall an astonishing read and advice to anyone who wants to understand how to get relatively more freedom from external powers.

Strategy? I struggled to find an ounce of business strategy in this book. This was pure hubris. A vessel for his own perceived grandeur. Spare yourself this drivel.

I didn't expect much from this - just another business book? Didn't know the author too. But I was surprised, this book is a fresh breath of air, many new topics under many new perspectives. Recommending!
