I get that classics like to be lengthy, but that really is the fault at times.

A good beginner classic as it’s easy to follow, however is fairly long and drags on towards the end.

boring AF

I listened to this through the CraftLit podcast, which I absolutely love. https://craftlit.com/category/bronte/tenant-of-wildfell-hall/

I hadn't read anything by Anne Brontë before, but I did enjoy it. The ending is a lot more mild compared to her sisters' books. But it's a great example of "good guys" and how to spot abuse and other bad behavior.

Even the man who wins the girl in the end has some problematic toxic masculinity.

Anne Bronte's second novel is the story of a young woman who married unwisely, and was trapped by the laws of her time in a union that was unhealthy and demoralizing. The struggles of her heroine are written so vividly that some scenes were painful for me to read. I can't help admiring Anne Bronte for writing so boldly of an issue that fiction of her day preferred to gloss over or ignore altogether.
