The Speed of Trust
A deep dive into the power of trust in leadership, business, and relationships. Covey argues that trust isn’t just a soft skill—it’s a measurable force that speeds up success and reduces costs. The book is packed with insights, though some examples feel a bit idealized. Still, the core message is solid: trust is built through credibility and consistent behavior.
Favorite Quotes:
“Trust is equal parts character and competence.”
“The moment there is suspicion about a person’s motives, everything they do becomes tainted.”

This book is a very valuable tool. Focusing on the state of trust in any relationship makes challenges easier to examine and understand more completely and objectively. Covey asserts that when trust is strong; activities, partnerships, and projects grow and develop more rapidly. When trust is broken, development and growth slow down. This slowdown can become a complete stoppage or even mark the end of the entire relationship. This is true in all kinds of relationships both personal and professional. The book favors examples from business. Unfortunately, some of the corporate examples in this book have not stood the test of time and revelations in the media. This brings up the main weakness of the book. If the ideas had been applied to a broader spectrum of relationships the book would be more universal and would not risk becoming dated before its time. Overall, it is very good information and it should be read and applied.

Excellent book on what trust is, how to build it (or restore it) and why it is so critical in our relationships and organizations. Wish I would have read this book sooner.
This book was fine, I guess; what it says makes sense. I just find books like this (self-help books, management books) irritating, self-evident, unnecessary. Maybe they're not unnecessary, because they sell like crazy, but I read them and think "well, duh."
I didn't seek this book out. Instead, I read it on a recommendation from my company's CEO. It's one of those books that contains knowledge so simple and well articulated that it's difficult to imagine a time when you didn't already know it. I would highly recommend this one to anybody.
