It's been a while since I've read a Grisham novel and this one reminded me why I enjoy them. It did not disappoint a bit. He does a remarkable job of finding the right combination of suspense, humanity, and legal details. You get to know the characters and end up caring about them. Unlike some authors, his side stories don't just exist to distract; they are always relevant and never ignored.
Good read!

Slow build, but satisfying finish

I haven’t been reading for a while. It took me a little time to catch my rhythm. But, Grisham never disappoints me.

This was so good. I could not put it down. I hope Grisham writes a whole series about this because it is fascinating.

Another excellent novel from Grisham

I found this story to be fascinating and a story based on something I haven’t really thought about deeply before. Grisham conveyed the idea of an innocent languishing in prison for years as something that needs to have the light shown on. Great book!

The Guardians by John Grisham
Starts out with Post and he's a lawyer who is given clients to defend for free. After he is given one that he can't even stomach he walks out of the courtroom to never return. He gets help from his mother and psychiatrist after his wife leaves him and he looks for guidance from the Guardian Ministry.
He becomes a minister and an a lawyer to help those who are imprisoned wrongfully.
They are currently following several other cases so at times the things they find are a bit confusing.
Love hearing about all the leads and how as a minister he is able to persuade others to sign affidavits stating they lied.
Horrific details of death that won't soon leave my dreams, but I can't put the book down.
Love outcome they get with just a handful of people over the years.
Love hearing how the story came about, priceless!
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

John Grisham does not disappoint. This time he took on the topic of wrongly convicted prisoners and the lawyer trying to free them. This book was inspired by a true innocent work agency and Joe Bryan's story of being wrongly incarcerated.

Grisham tells a story of a lawyer Cullen Post and his work two free two clients. It follows his visits with the inmates, his team and their investigation, and trial for exoneration. I enjoyed the details Grisham uses down to explaining during a prison visit how the visitor is allowed to purchase food from a vending machine for the inmate.

This book is full of wonderful characters and lots of twists. I have to say my favorite character is Frankie, Post's associate. This character is a good blend of both worlds being written about.

I kept expecting a massive twist or something but it went as expected pretty much? Still enjoyed it though
