It’s a really charming sweet story about two boys who are unwillingly tied together by a curse and have to figure out how to get past their enmity to solve their problems, especially since the curse is determined to solve it for them.

I hope the author gives us more with these two because it is really nicely paced for a high school enemies to lovers escalation, and I feel like the intended follow up books would do a similarly good job of building the romance up. Also the tension of the plot was fun and engaging, and the threads felt well woven in so that nothing felt unsupported even if I wasn’t expecting the turn.

I devoured Sorcery and Small Magics. It’s super charming—both a deeply funny (and sometimes heartfelt) team up between academic opposites and a low-stakes adventure into a forest full of wild magic. I loved the dynamic between Leo (unambitious, a bit foppish, a trickster when bored) and Grimm (serious, studious, deeply unimpressed by Leo’s nonsense). It’s so much fun watching them stumble from reluctant academic partners to friends and maybe something more. Aided—or dragged along—by an accidental control spell.

I have mixed feelings about the control spell turning out to be
a love spell. Within the context of the book, it makes a lot of sense, but mixing love spells and romance is always an iffy prospect for me
. It’s handled pretty well, though, so I’m sure I’ll have no issue rooting for Leo and Grimm’s relationship in future books.
