Told entirely in letters and only 88 pages, Taylor Jenkins Reid has done it again.

It’s short and concise, but it also includes every detail you need. You get the feeling of every relationship - Carrie & Ken’s, David & Janet’s, Ken & Janet’s, and the genuine friendship between Carrie & David - from just the exchanged letters.

From here, without spoiling anything, all I can say: Fuck Ken, he is so incredibly spineless and horrific, I am shocked to my core

It's my own fault, I don't know why I picked this up when I hate reading about infidelity. I think I would have liked it if it had turned out to be a thriller, or have some sort of twist other than the fact that
she cheated too in the end, and that it's not her that's "broken" and can't get pregnant, it's her husbands "fault".

This is my first TJR read and I hope her other works are better than this.

I chose this book as a short read to pass the time and relax between exams today, and TJR has once again taken my breath away. I have never become so attached to characters in such a short space of time, reading this short story. I have never cried at a short story before, but TJR's words work fantastically in epistolary fiction and dialogue. I would recommend as an introduction to TJR's emotive writing style, because I cannot imagine reading this and remaining objective. It is truly beautiful.

"It is funny the crazy things our brains make up to save us from the truth."

"I’m not quite the man I pretend to be, and she’s certainly not the woman I thought she was."

"I feel like the girl at the party nobody wants to dance with. There I am, hoping someone might choose me, while the rest of the world goes on dancing."

I did not have high expectations for this but I was pleasently surprised. The story is told in letters only and tells us about two individuals that correspond about their partners cheating with each other.
It is quite short but bitter sweet. The ending is a real banger. You can really feel the relationships between the different characters.
This isn't for anyone but if you're on the lookout for a short read you should consider this. Especially if you enjoyed Taylor Jenkins Reids other works.

First time reading on my kindle in a long time as I got this free on Prime reading. Really enjoyed this short story by Taylor and I liked the nods to some of the novels she wrote after this story (Daisy Jones gets a few mentions!). I thought the concept was really interesting and really clever. There were missing bits in between letters which added an extra dimension and let the reader imagine what could have happened at those meetings. I also liked the plot arch and the ending was interesting.  Feel a bit weird rating a novella but was a nice short easy read.

I love Taylor Jenkins Reid and her writing is really good.
Even though i usually hate straight romance this book was really good and the ending left me shocked. I read it in less than an hour and had a great time. Something I enjoyed was that it was written like letters. Another thing that I love is the connection between all the TJR books. Another addition to the MRU (Mick Riva Universe)
But the middle part had a lot of romance and marriage and i don’t enjoy that very much.
