"Call me sick, call me twisted, call me cruel and cold, but it was the truth. Death got me going like nothing else. My inner darkness was showing; Edward and Lincoln had fostered it, helped it bloom into a flower of everlasting blackness."
This is only book 2 in the Cruel Black Hearts mini series but this has easily become one of my favorite series of 2019. Its definitely in my top 5 favorites reads of this year. Candace Wondrak is becoming one of my new favorite authors. She knows how to write a villain/psychopath!
In Cold Dark Souls, she upped the ante and more secrets get discovered. The sex is steaming. And the killing is shocking. A great book to the first one in this trilogy! Cant wait to see how it all ends!

I was torn, 4 stars for the writing and world building, but lots of stars for such horror?
I don't recommend this for people with triggers, or in general, since its such a dark story about enjoying murder, but thats where I put it. As a "story" and I kept reading.

I freaking loved this book. A reverse harem about serial killers, it sounds so wrong, but it is actually an amazing match made in heaven. The darkness in this book was pitch black in parts, but I couldn't put it down! Stella is the ultimate damaged heroine (or anti-heroine) and her guy's are all flawed and dark. I've struggled to find time to read this week, but I picked this up and couldn't put it down. If you're into true crime, excellent sexy times and feeling a little bit dirty for enjoying reading about bad people - this book has your name on it!
Still good. Waiting for the big twist in 3. Need to know what the heck is going on with the roommate situation!!!

I have only one word for this book and is " WOW ". I'm shocked by the revelation in this book I was certainly not expecting that.
So far I am still liking the story and there is a lot to unpack here. I don't find many books where the main characters are atypical and I like to see authors explore the human spectrum with their characters. While the story shows the darker side of things, it also stress that we are all people and deserve the same respect, whether we fit the norm or not. At least that is my take away.
The guys drive to help Stella is really sweet. While I don't necessarily agree with how they decide to help, it is not only true to character but also realistic. I am not really pleased with them thinking she is broken, but it is not a deal breaker as they are wanting to help and not just "fix" Stella.
I feel that at this point we can see the mental health of Stella through the appearance of Callie, and I look forward to the point where Stella sees the truth.

This series has absolutely got me hooked.
❤️❤️Spoilers & my thoughts past this point ❤️❤️
From the end of book 1, I had suspicions that Callie was dead and that the Callie we saw at the beginning of this book was just a figment of Stella’s imagination. And even though I had my thoughts, it still shocked me to find out the truth.
My heart hurts for Callie, I was absolutely rooting for her but I don’t know if it was the real Callie or the one Stella is imagining. I also feel for Stella, being off her meds, not knowing what she has done.
Lincoln’s change of heart was something different this time round, he was still that rough, brooding man but he has a touch of softness to it and I’m loving it.
I hope she keeps all 3.
