"The truth that's hidden, no matter the circumstances, is often cruel."

ok SO, Gourmet Ghoul kidnaps Kimi and tries to use her as bait so Kaneki comes to help her. It works!!! But Nishio goes along with Kaneki, while Touka secretly follows them. After a dramatic (very cool) introduction they just,,,, honestly for being 3 vs 1,,, they almost fucking die against Gourmet, so I guess the guy's [quality diet] really does check out. Anyway as a last resort Touka bites Kaneki and that lets her regain her strength and after a couple of exchanged blows the Gourmet gets fucking mogged.

On other news, Rize was a very problematic ghoul for very humane reasons (she was lazy and didn't follow rules lol), the CCG is noticing a rise in ghoul attacks against inspectors across a bunch of Districts and suspects there might be a ghoul crime organization behind it, Amon has survivors guilt(??? and doesn't have an assigned partner yet(??? AND,, my ~most favorite~ character makes his first appearance!!! :33

~3.5-4/5

The gourmet ghoul kidnaps someone, setting off a big, deserving fight scene. It’s extremely bloody and gruesome and gross. But it needs to happen, and Ken and Touka work together with Nishio to rescue the girl Nishio loves. I like how the fight ends, actually. I like the moment that Touka has.

Then we’re give insight into Rize, the girl who turned Ken. We know from the first volume, that she’s an evil thing, and here we get to see what she was doing before she attacked Ken. It’s been hinted there’s more to her death than Ken initially thought, and I’m intrigued to see what we find out next. Lastly, we’re introduced to a new ghoul hunter, who is possibly more psychotic than the last one, and practically a ghoul himself maybe.

This is a grossly violent series, but I’m still intrigued. I like where the story is going, and enjoy finding out more details to the big plot. I will be reading more.

Another solid instalment in the Tokyo Ghoul series!

This volume focuses heavily on a battle between Tsukiyama (aka The Gourmet) and Kaneki/Touka/Nishio. There are some seriously intense and chaotic scenes which took me a few attempts to fully understand what was happening in them but despite that I am loving the storyline and characters. (No Uta sadly in this volume).

We also get a Rize side story which I particularly appreciated and we find out something very intriguing about her! :0

Elsewhere, Nishio joins Anteiku after his bloody showdown with Tsukiyama (where he nearly lost his girlfriend, Kimi) and we are introduced to a new CCG investigator called Juzo Suzuya who I think is a little unhinged...much like the late Kureo Mado!

So there is plenty happening in this volume and I cannot wait to start number 6! If you want a horror manga which has an intriguing plot plus a great cast of characters then TG is for you!
