Ooh it’s so hard to have main characters who balance both being likeable and dis likeable without compromising wanting a HEA and feeling like they deserved I.
This was very satisfying, and perfect as a Courtney Milan fan

I really enjoyed this, but I wanted more from it in a way I cannot really articulate.

The love interests pretended to be someone who they really weren’t. It was funny and delightful but heartbreaking too. The hero was very comical. The narrator did a great job in audiobook.

The series is amazing. Super pining in one book, indecent proposals in another. Ensnaring into marriage, retelling of fantasies (yes, that kind). I loved each book for a different reason. I cannot pick a favorite! It’s a great problem to have.

Reread 2025:  First time I read these in order, I still love it so very much.  I would only add that out of the 3 books this is the one with a richer plot outside of the romance, since there is a Holmesian investigation taking place. It did not get in the way of the romance! Phew!

There is also a secondary romance that, given the plot of book #2, is very rewarding to read.

Packed with ableism (Vere's pretend idiocy is staggeringly mishandled) and assholery on behalf of the hero.
