I found the writing easy to read and the setting excellently described -
Would’ve liked more plot but a good read non the less.

Chloe Aridjis writes beautifully, but as the novel went on I found it harder and harder to keep going. There are many things I like about this book: the cover, the title, the opening chapters, the sparkling descriptions, but I wanted more from the story: more change, more movement. I'm not the type to need non-stop adventure in a novel, and I like novels about thinking and feeling, but something here left me feeling lukewarm. I've never had the experience of being so connected to a character at the beginning of a novel and then losing that connection soon after.
