3.75 feels so mean, wish storygraph had a heart/no heart option like letterboxd...sigh. ANYWAYS, quite enjoyed! the rating is mainly because i (personally) didnt get super emotionally attached to the characters. but thats okay! i really did enjoy the werewolf world building in here, lots of interesting stuff

DID NOT FINISH: 57%

The disjointed stories didn’t really work for me. I realized when I kept checking to see how much more I had to get through, that I should prob just give up. Also Libby (the app not the character) said someone else was waiting on the hold so I took that as a sign.

This honestly felt more like someone trying to tell lore about werewolves vs a werewolf story. Toward the end it jumps around too back to when the narrator is younger for no real reason. It also didn't really feel like a horror story, sure there were a couple parts that were horror, but it felt more road trippy I guess.

This story really drives toward an understanding of legacy and life within legacy. It meant a lot to me personally. I don't know what it is about parents, maybe about people in general, but they leave so many mysteries behind. Even if readers don’t relate on that level, it’s a good time, a walk through monster culture, corrective from the movies that always get it wrong. SGJ never disappoints.
