I read this for the Book in the Freezer podcast book club, and I don't think I would have picked it up otherwise. While I liked the concept, and I especially enjoyed learning the "rules" (according to Darren/Grandpa anyways) for being a werewolf, this book ultimately fell a little flat for me. I generally prefer books with a little more of a clear plot, and this just didn't have enough of that until the last few chapters.

This was a really good book. I've had a range of opinions on Jones's work, everything from 1 star to 5 stars. This is easily my second favorite book of his. I loved the characters. The MC in particular was amazingly well written. I loved the plot, and the ending was chef's kiss perfect.
Separate from the book itself, I didn't like how the audiobook had two different narrators. One did a fabulous job. But the other sounded like a clown who had been hitting the helium too hard. Thankfully there were fewer of those chapters, but I quickly learned to skip each one and just read my physical copy when they occurred.

This book was a great start to October. This book's narrator didn't have a name which was new to me, but it fit so well with this story. The author states that this book is based on his life, but this book has werewolves in it, so it makes you think about which pieces of the story are real and which ones are not. This is a great spooky/thriller for the month of October.

One of the best werewolf books I've read - loved this interpretation and all the details on their culture. The vignette style sometimes dragged and there isn't a plot per se, but I think that made sense with what the book was trying to do. I loved the family and their believable relationships. TJ Klune you could never.

I don't think SGJ is the author for me. The style felt choppy and I love a good back and forth through time but this one just didn't hold my attention. I liked the start and the werewolf lore thrown in but overall it felt repetitive.
