Ain't He Precious? was such a fun, entertaining, and lighthearted read! It's on the shorter side, but this second chance romance was just what I was looking for after reading some heavier books.

Trixie and Ryland have been apart for eleven years, after dating for 3 years through law school. They had made plans to spend the rest of their lives together, when suddenly those plans changed, leaving Ryland in Boston, Massachusetts and Trixie in Whynot, North Carolina. They've moved on with their lives, but when a legal case brings the two of them together again in Whynot, it's clear that their chemistry is just as scorching and powerful as it was all those years ago. I loved how these two reconnected and Ry got some good old southern hospitality from the town and Trixie's family. The story is told from both character's points of view, and I especially enjoyed Ry's fish out of water monologue. Both Ry and Trixie are such strong, intelligent, and caring people, and the low angst of this romance was perfect. The secondary characters in the story were just as fun, especially Pap. I love that he's a straight shooter and I imagine it would be very fun to shoot the breeze with him.

I enjoyed this quick and amusing romance and can't wait for more from Juliette Poe! What a wonderful start to the series!

This is the first book from "new" author, Juliette Poe (Sawyer Bennett). It's a sticky sweet novella about second chances between to different as can be lawyers, Ryland and Trixie. I really enjoyed reading this one! Sawyer Bennett is so incredibly talented to be able to write such diverse material. I have to say, just from reading Pap's introduction to southern sweetheart, Trixie...poor Ryland really had NO CHANCE! LOL! It was a fun, delightful and light hearted story that I was able to read pretty quickly. I especially liked Trixie's grandfather, Pap. What a hoot!! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Snarky and fun

I delighted in this gentle snarky romance. The characters made me want to know them so it's well written. Definitely want to get the next one soon.

We follow the story of small town loving southern belle Trixie and city loving Ryland they met and fell in love through Law School but went there separate ways after passing the bar. Fast forward 11 years and they reconnect and realise the heart wants what the heart wants!!!
A story of second chances and moving forward that was just so precious and that I really enjoyed.
I can't wait to read more of this crazy Mainer-Mancinkus family lol

This was a short yet sweet second chance romance that neither over the top angsty nor was it anywhere fizzling - I liked it - and it honestly took me like two uninterrupted hours to actually read it; but it definitely helped me take my mind of my migraine! :)

Ryland “Ry” Powers feels like he’s stepped back in time. Patricia “Trixie” Mancinkus has a crusty old man that she loves so much – made me think of my dad. It reminds me of simpler times. When we didn’t have to rush and when we actually talked to people instead of texting or emailing them. The setting reminded me of the old television show Matlock. If you ever get a chance, check it out.

The author grabbed my attention right at the point where I see the town that Trixie lives in. It made me chuckle right out of the gate. Instead of watching a comedy show on TV, it’s like reading the script. It’s interesting to watch a big city lawyer, with big city ideas, come and get the wind knocked out of his sails. One character to watch out for is Pap. He may be military but he’s just a big old softy.

What a great way to start this series. We get a real feel for the town and a little understanding about Trixie’s family. I certainly want to know more about both. If I ever get myself down South or maybe even to North Carolina, this book will need to come with me. There were times that I felt as if Andy Griffith was reading the story to me. He would be a perfect fit for Judge Bowe. One character I wanted to get to know better is Lowe. He happens to be Trixie’s brother and I wanted to know what made him tick.

This may be a short story but you won’t feel like something got cut short. When you think of the South, you think laid back and things moving slower. This book will do that for you. You will want to sit back, get comfortable, and just enjoy what Ms. Poe has written. And the ending, when it comes, has me ready for book two.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I love it when an author decides to write under a pen name because they want to write a slightly different story...at least, that is what looks like happened here.

And, this classic Sawyer Bennett...but it is also Juliette Poe. And, I really, really enjoyed it. The writing style that you love is there, but it is different. The edges are softer, the characters maybe a little smoother. And not in a bad way. This takes place in Whynot, of all places...there is humor, and there is heart. But this one you relax your way into instead of the intensity that is in Sawyer Bennet's usual books. And, I loved it.

Have I mentioned I loved it? Some books are just a joy to read, to curl up with and just enjoy. This absolutely was. And, without a spoiler I absolutely LOVED the way they handled the resolution of the second chance, the reason they split before and how they could make it work now.

Trixie and Ry are definitely one of my new favorite couples and I can't wait to see what Juliette writes next, as I can absolutely promise you, I will be reading it.

I recommend this book.

Barely a book. Felt more like an outline. No conflict, just the barest descriptions of the court cases and honestly more time was spent describing the main character’s cut-off shorts.
