My daughter recommended this book.  It was good but I felt it dragged a little bit in the beginning.  I was thinking this book as a 3-star, then i got to the ending and bumped it up to a 4. The narrator was perfect for the story.
emotional medium-paced

I appreciated how Grisham wove what could have been an American-centric story about basketball into a more complex narrative involving the country of Sudan.

Why would you take that dang pill?

Was not prepared for this story. I suppose I'm to blame for not reading all the  trigger warnings. The characters were great and the story for the most part is heart warming but during the March Madness the explanation of the games was too much in the weeds. I'm still an avid Grisham fan and will continue to read his books.

From the start, let me say, I am not a basketball lover. However, this book drew me in so much so that even the basketball was exciting. The characters were alive on the page, both in Sudan and in the USA. If I have two cents to put in, this should be made into a movie; it deserves it. The story is beautiful, but dang it, John Grisham.....
