This was my favorite in the series but it still felt like it was missing something.

Also the FMC's ex was never fully fleshed out but was then a cause of conflict and I was so confused. But we also see her refer to him as her dominant like twice in passing but with no further explanation. I think if we wanted to see the aftermath of the relationship actually impact her and see him as a villain or some type of contradictory character I think we needed something more fleshed out. Also the MMC's lack of experience was a bigger thing in the summary and he discusses his past difficulty with intimacy but then it just never is brought up again. He suddenly has no problem with the FMC. And I get it, its supposed to be different with FMC because she's different but even if that was the case I think that difference needed to addressed. Something as simple as him saying, its never been this easy maybe it's because we have a connection or something like that (I am not an author LOL ). The point being it was a conflict that was just like not resolved properly in my books.

Also loved the therapy rep and having hard conversations with family and establishing boundaries, very very nice to see.

Overall though a fun read I did kind of enjoy, with the exceptions of the above mentioned gaps.

This was my favorite book out of the series. Jesse and Lily-Grace had a cute romance. I absolutely adore this story. They were perfect for each other.

Maybe the most fairytale of all of this series. While I appreciated that the second act conflict wasn't between the main couple, I felt as if the second half of the book was missing some energy. Still happy to spend time on the ranch with these characters.

I've not read a lot of cowboy romances, but I will be going back to others in this series by Rebekah Weatherspoon. Her writing is superb and I love the way she weaves a story and crafts her characters.

Jesse is a hot headed grumpy guy who honestly has a lot on his plate. Our story begins when he walks in on his grandmother getting it on with a man and he does not handle it well (to say the least). A trip to the hospital is involved for the man. His daughter, Lily-Grace, is not pleased and she goes to the ranch Jesse runs to have it out with the guy. And boy does she. Walks into a meeting and BAM she gives Jesse a piece of her mind.

What follows is a story of friendship that delves into something more. Jesse is definitely a cinnamon roll type of hero. He's hard to read and grumpy on the outside, but a total softy for his people. Lily-Grace soon finds herself as one of his people. I loved their romance. It was sweet and sexy, including Jesse's protectiveness and growth.

This is also a story about healing. There's some past trauma and resentment for each of them and they both have navigate through that. For Jesse, this includes therapy. For Lily-Grace, it's about finding happiness and being able to trust again.

Rebekah Weatherspoon is quickly becoming an auto-buy/auto-read author and I cannot wait to continue to make my way through her backlist.

Main characters: Jesse and Lily-Grace
Tropes: grumpy/sunshine, childhood friends to lovers, cowboy, small town, sex lessons.
Representation: Vitiligo, Black characters (this is a Black romance after all).
Content warnings: sexual harassment, panic attacks, sexual content, emotional abuse, stalking/harassment, gun violence, breaking and entering.

UGH I LOOOOOOVED THIS ONE. I kind of knew I would.

Jesse is 6'7". He's awkward. He's angry. He's in therapy! He's protective of his family. He doesn't really fit in anywhere. He's a cowboy who's afraid of horses.

Lily-Grace is back in town. They knew each other as kids - he had a crush on her as kids. And now? Well she hates him because her dad is dating his grandma and Jesse was not very nice to him.

There's a date auction. STEAMY STEAM. So much cuteness, because Lily-Grace is so protective of Jesse.

Jesse is marshmallow fluff on the inside. MARSHMALLOW FLUFF!!!!!
